5. Installation Guide

Follow these steps carefully. If unsure, consult a professional.

  1. Prepare the Scooter:
    • Ensure the scooter is turned off and the battery is completely disconnected to prevent electrical shock or damage.
    • Place the scooter on a stable surface.
  2. Remove Old Components:
    • Carefully locate and disconnect the wiring for the existing throttle, display meter, and controller.
    • Unmount the old throttle/display unit from the handlebars and the old controller from its housing. Note the routing of all cables.
  3. Install New Controller:
    • Mount the new 48V Controller in the designated location on your scooter. Ensure it is securely fastened and protected from moisture and impact.
    • Begin connecting the main power cables (usually thicker red/black wires) from the controller to the battery.
  4. Install New Throttle Display Meter:
    • Mount the jx-100 Throttle Display Meter with Key Switch onto the handlebars in a comfortable and accessible position.
    • Route the wiring from the throttle/display unit to the controller, following the original cable paths to prevent pinching or damage.
  5. Connect Wiring Harnesses:
    • Connect all corresponding wiring harnesses between the throttle/display unit and the controller. This typically includes:
      • Motor phase wires (often thicker, colored wires)
      • Hall sensor wires (smaller, multi-colored wires)
      • Throttle signal wire
      • Brake signal wires
      • Key switch power wire
      • Display communication wire
      • Light/horn wires (if applicable)
    • Refer to the wiring diagram on the controller label (Figure 2) for specific connections. Ensure all connections are firm and correctly seated.
  6. Secure and Test:
    • Once all connections are made, secure any loose wiring with zip ties or cable wraps to prevent interference or damage.
    • Reconnect the scooter's battery.
    • Turn the key switch to the 'ON' position. The display should light up.
    • Carefully test the throttle, brakes, and display functions while the scooter is on a stand or with the wheel off the ground to ensure everything operates correctly before riding.
