Note: Battery and power cord are not included and must be purchased separately.

2.2 Power Supply

The LUT5 monitor offers flexible power options:

  • Battery Power: The monitor features a battery slot compatible with standard Sony NP-F series batteries (e.g., F970, F960, F950, F770, F750, F570, F550). Due to the 3000nit brightness, higher power consumption is expected. A Sony standard F970 battery (7.4V 6600mAh) is recommended for approximately 2.5 hours of operation. Larger capacity batteries will provide longer working times.
  • DC IN 12V: Connect an external DC 12V power adapter (not included) to the DC IN port for continuous power.
  • DC OUT 8V (Auxiliary Power): The monitor provides an auxiliary DC OUT 8V port, allowing you to power your DSLR or mirrorless camera using a separately available battery adapter cable (e.g., NP-FW50 for Sony, LP-E6 for Canon, DMW-BLF19 for Panasonic). Ensure to use a large-capacity, fully charged battery when powering both the monitor and camera to ensure stable camera operation.

2.3 Mounting the Monitor

The LUT5 monitor is equipped with two standard 1/4” mounting threads (one on the bottom, one on the right side). This allows for versatile mounting on various equipment such as cameras, magic arms, or brackets, supporting both horizontal and vertical shooting orientations.

2.4 Innovative External Install and Power Design

The back of the monitor features a Sony F970 external install and power kit. This kit allows you to attach and power external devices like wireless video transmitters, LED lights, or video converters directly from a Sony F970 battery mounted on the monitor. This design helps to consolidate your gear, saving space and reducing the overall weight of your photography setup. The kit includes two cross slots, enabling you to adjust the position of external devices by loosening screws. If not needed, the kit can be easily removed.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the monitor screen and body.
  • For stubborn smudges, lightly dampen the cloth with a screen-safe cleaning solution.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the screen or finish.

  • When not in use, store the monitor in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Use a protective case or pouch to prevent scratches and impacts during transport or storage.

4.3 Cooling System

The LUT5 monitor features a built-in heat conducting unit and a low-consumption fan, complemented by multidimensional cooling holes. This design ensures efficient heat dissipation. To maintain optimal performance and prevent overheating, ensure that the cooling vents are not obstructed during operation.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted, or that the DC 12V power adapter is securely connected.
  • No Signal: Verify that the HDMI cable is properly connected to both the camera's HDMI OUT and the monitor's HDMI IN. Check camera settings to ensure HDMI output is enabled and configured correctly.
  • Screen Flickering/Distortion: Check HDMI cable for damage. Try a different HDMI cable. Ensure the input signal resolution and frame rate are supported by the monitor.
  • Touch Screen Unresponsive: Restart the monitor. Ensure the touch function is enabled in the settings.
  • Overheating: Ensure cooling vents are clear and not obstructed. Operate the monitor in a well-ventilated area.
  • Battery Drains Quickly: Ensure you are using a high-capacity battery, especially a Sony F970 series, given the monitor's high brightness. Reduce screen brightness if extended battery life is needed.
