4.2 One-Key Offline Clone Function (DB280NA Model)

The DB280NA model supports offline disk duplication without needing a computer connection. Both hard drives must be of the same protocol (NVMe to NVMe, or SATA to SATA) for this process.

  1. Prepare Drives: Insert the source M.2 SSD into the 'Source' slot and the target M.2 SSD into the 'Target' slot. Ensure the target drive has equal or greater capacity than the source drive.
  2. Set to Copy Mode: Switch the dial on the docking station to the "Copy" position.
  3. Initiate Clone: Connect the power adapter. Press and hold the 'Copy' button until all indicator lights (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) begin to flash.
  4. Start Duplication: Release the button, then press it again to start the cloning process.
  5. Monitor Progress: The indicator lights will flash sequentially (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) to show the cloning progress.
  6. Completion: Once all four indicator lights remain steadily lit, the cloning process is complete.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the 5V3A power adapter is securely connected to both the docking station and a working power outlet.
  • SSD not recognized by computer:
    • Verify that the M.2 SSDs are correctly inserted into their respective slots.
    • Check if the SSD's key type (B&M Key or M Key) and protocol (NVMe or SATA) are compatible with the docking station.
    • Ensure the USB-C cable is properly connected to both the docking station and the computer.
    • Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.
  • Offline cloning fails or does not start:
    • Confirm that both source and target SSDs are of the same protocol (e.g., NVMe to NVMe, SATA to SATA).
    • Ensure the target SSD's capacity is equal to or greater than the source SSD's capacity.
    • Make sure the 'Copy' switch is in the correct position and the copy button sequence is followed precisely (press and hold until lights flash, then release and press again).
    • Disconnect the docking station from the computer before attempting an offline clone.
  • Slow transfer speeds:
    • Ensure your computer's USB port supports the required speed (e.g., USB 3.1 Gen 2 for 20Gbps NVMe).
    • Check the quality of the USB-C cable.
    • Verify that the SSDs themselves are capable of the advertised speeds.

8. User Tips

  • SSD Compatibility: Always double-check the key type (B&M or M) and protocol (NVMe or SATA) of your M.2 SSDs to ensure they are compatible with the docking station. Incorrect insertion or incompatible drives can lead to issues.
  • Offline Cloning Best Practices: When performing an offline clone, ensure the target drive has sufficient capacity (equal to or larger than the source drive). For optimal performance and to prevent data loss, it's recommended to back up critical data before cloning.
  • Power Supply: Always use the provided 5V3A power adapter to ensure stable and sufficient power for the docking station, especially during high-speed transfers or cloning operations.
  • Heat Management: While the device has a hollow-out design for heat dissipation, avoid placing it in enclosed spaces or covering the ventilation areas during prolonged use.
  • RGB Lighting: The RGB rainbow lighting effect is an aesthetic feature. It also serves as a visual indicator for power and activity.
