7. Setup

7.1 Charging the Battery

The MF9 Transistor Tester comes with a built-in 300mAh 4.2V lithium battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator on the display shows low power, connect the included USB data cable to the USB charging port (6) on the device and to a standard USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The device will indicate charging status on the display.

7.2 Powering On/Off

To power on the device, press the Test button (2). The device will automatically perform a self-test and display the battery voltage. To power off, the device features an automatic shutdown function to conserve battery life after a period of inactivity.

7.3 Calibration

The device is equipped with a calibration needle for more accurate testing of small resistors. Refer to the on-screen instructions or the device's internal menu for specific calibration procedures if needed. Typically, the device performs an automatic calibration upon power-on.

8. Operation

8.1 General Component Testing

  1. Ensure the device is powered on.
  2. Carefully insert the leads of the component you wish to test into the Transistor Test Area (4). The socket is designed to accommodate various component types. For Zener diodes higher than 5V, use the dedicated Zener Diode Test Area (5).
  3. Press the Test button (2).
  4. The device will automatically detect the component type, identify its pins, and display relevant parameters on the TFT Display (1).
  5. Remove the component after the test is complete.

8.2 Specific Component Testing Examples

The device can test a wide range of components, including:

  • Resistors: Displays resistance value and pin configuration.
  • Capacitors: Displays capacitance, Vloss, and ESR (for >10µF). Remember to discharge before testing.
  • Inductors: Displays inductance and DC resistance.
  • Diodes: Displays forward voltage (Uf) and pin configuration.
