3. Setup

Your BENYAR automatic mechanical watch requires initial setup to ensure accurate timekeeping.

  1. Initial Winding: If the watch has stopped, it needs to be manually wound. With the crown in Position 0 (fully pushed in), turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will build up a sufficient power reserve to start the movement.
  2. Setting the Date: Gently pull the crown out to Position 1. Turn the crown either clockwise or counter-clockwise (depending on the movement) to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this is when the date change mechanism is engaged and could be damaged. Once the correct date is set, push the crown back to Position 0.
  3. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to Position 2. Turn the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure you pass 12 o'clock to determine if it's AM or PM, especially when setting the date. Once the correct time is set, push the crown back to Position 0.

4. Operating Your Watch

Your BENYAR watch is an automatic mechanical timepiece, meaning it is powered by the natural motion of your wrist.

  • Automatic Winding: When worn daily for approximately 8-10 hours, the watch's rotor will automatically wind the mainspring, maintaining its power reserve. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop. In this case, manually wind it as described in the 'Initial Winding' section before wearing.
  • Water Resistance (50M): This watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, showering, and fishing. It is NOT suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any water exposure. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.

5. Maintenance and Care

Proper care will help preserve the appearance and function of your BENYAR watch.

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the watch case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and moisture. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one.
  • Avoid Shocks: While the watch is shock-resistant, avoid severe impacts or dropping the watch, as this can damage the delicate internal movement.
  • Magnetic Fields: Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, airport security scanners), as magnetism can affect the accuracy of mechanical movements.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, as this can affect lubricants and seals.
  • Water Resistance Check: If the watch has been subjected to significant impact or if the crown has been accidentally left open, it is advisable to have its water resistance checked by a professional.

6. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Watch Has Stopped: This is usually due to insufficient power reserve. Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 30-40 times with the crown in Position 0. Then wear it for several hours.
  • Date Not Changing at Midnight: The time might be set incorrectly (e.g., AM/PM confusion). Advance the time past 12 o'clock to see if the date changes. If it changes at noon, you need to advance the time by 12 hours.
  • Watch Running Too Fast/Slow: Minor deviations are normal for mechanical watches. However, significant inaccuracy might be due to magnetism (demagnetize the watch) or a need for servicing.
  • Condensation Under the Crystal: If you notice moisture or condensation inside the watch, it indicates a breach in water resistance. Seek professional watch repair immediately to prevent further damage to the movement.

7. User Tips

  • Regular Wear: To ensure optimal performance and consistent timekeeping, wear your automatic watch regularly. If not worn for extended periods, manually wind it before wearing to ensure it starts with a full power reserve.
  • Date Adjustment Window: Always remember to avoid adjusting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM to prevent potential damage to the movement's date mechanism.
