SHANGSIMOUDLECX HV Power Supply Module 250V 6.3V

High Voltage DC Converter Module Board User Manual

Model: HV Power Supply Module 250V 6.3V | Brand: SHANGSIMOUDLECX

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your High Voltage DC Converter Module Board. This module is designed to provide stable DC high voltage (150V-280V adjustable) and a 6.3V filament voltage, making it ideal for powering Nixie tubes, Magic Eye tubes, and similar vacuum tube applications.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: This module generates high voltage. Improper handling can result in electric shock, serious injury, or death. Always exercise extreme caution when working with high voltage circuits.

  • Ensure the power supply is disconnected before making any connections or adjustments.
  • Do not touch any components on the board while it is powered.
  • Verify all connections are correct and secure before applying power.
  • Use appropriate insulation and safety equipment.
  • If you are not experienced with high voltage electronics, seek professional assistance.

5.2 Wiring Connections

The module can be powered via the DC barrel jack (5.5*2.1mm) or the screw terminals labeled 'AC-IN' on the bottom of the PCB. Despite the 'AC-IN' label, the module requires a DC 9V-12V input. The output connections are available via screw terminals.

  1. Input Power (DC 9V-12V): Connect your DC 9V-12V power source to either the DC barrel jack or the screw terminals marked 'AC-IN' on the bottom of the board (refer to Figure 3). Ensure correct polarity if using screw terminals.
  2. High Voltage Output (DC 150V-280V): Connect the anode of your Nixie or Magic Eye tube to the '+B' terminal. Connect the cathode to one of the 'GND' terminals.
  3. Filament Voltage Output (DC 6.3V): Connect the filament of your tube to the '6.3' terminal and the other 'GND' terminal. The screw terminals on the top side are labeled '灯丝' (Filament) and '升压' (Boost/HV), corresponding to the 6.3V and HV outputs respectively.

Double-check all connections before applying power to prevent damage to the module or connected devices.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Once all connections are secure, apply DC 9V-12V power to the module.
  2. Adjusting High Voltage Output: The high voltage output (150V-280V) is adjustable. Locate the blue potentiometer (labeled 'W103' in Figure 1 and 2) on the board. Use a small screwdriver to carefully turn the potentiometer clockwise to increase the voltage or counter-clockwise to decrease it. It is recommended to monitor the output voltage with a multimeter during adjustment.
  3. Filament Voltage: The 6.3V filament output is fixed and does not require adjustment.
  4. Power Off: Disconnect the input power supply when the module is no longer needed or before making any changes to the wiring.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the module clean and free from dust and debris.
  • Ensure the module is operated in a dry environment to prevent short circuits.
  • Avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Periodically check connections for looseness or corrosion.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No output voltageNo input power
Incorrect input voltage
Faulty connections
Verify power supply is connected and functional.
Ensure input is DC 9V-12V.
Check all wiring for secure and correct connections.
Incorrect high voltage outputPotentiometer setting
Overload on output
Adjust the blue potentiometer (W103) to the desired voltage.
Ensure the load current does not exceed 15mA.
Module gets excessively hotOverload on output
Insufficient ventilation
Reduce the load on the high voltage or filament outputs.
Ensure adequate airflow around the module.

9. User Tips

  • When connecting Nixie tubes, ensure the current draw for the high voltage and filament circuits combined does not exceed the module's capabilities.
  • Always use a multimeter to verify output voltages before connecting sensitive components.
  • Consider mounting the module in an enclosure to protect it from dust and accidental contact, especially given the high voltages involved.
