5. Setup

5.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the ice maker from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. Note that the stainless steel model may have a scratch-resistant protective film that appears white; you can choose to keep it or peel it off.

5.2 Placement

The SDZ45 ice maker offers flexible placement options:

  • Freestanding: Place the unit in a desired location, ensuring adequate clearance for the front air vent for heat dissipation.
  • Under Counter: The unit can be installed under a counter. Adjust the four adjustable feet (0.8-1.6 inches) to level the machine. Ensure proper ventilation around the unit.

5.3 Water and Drain Connections

The ice maker requires a continuous water supply and a drain connection for automatic operation.

  1. Connect the provided water inlet hose to a potable water supply.
  2. Connect the other end of the water inlet hose to the 'Water Inlet' port on the back of the ice maker.
  3. Connect the drain hose to the 'Water Outlet' port on the back of the ice maker.
  4. Route the drain hose to a suitable drain, ensuring it has a downward slope for proper drainage.

5.4 Power Connection

Once water connections are secure, plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Control Panel Overview

The ice maker features an intelligent LCD control panel for easy operation. Refer to Figure 5 for button and indicator functions.

  • Power Button: Turns the unit On/Off.
  • Clean Button: Initiates the automatic self-cleaning cycle. Long press for cleaning.
  • Timer Button: Activates the 24-hour reservation function.
  • On/Off Blue Light / Ice Deicing Button: Toggles the built-in blue light. Long press for ice deicing.
  • Menu Button: Used for various settings.
  • Turn Up (+) / Turn Down (-) Buttons: Adjust ice making time (and thus ice thickness) or timer settings.
  • Indicators: Ice Deicing, Ice Full, Water Shortage, Malfunction reminders.

6.2 Starting Ice Production

  1. Ensure the water supply is connected and turned on.
  2. Press the Power Button to turn on the ice maker.
  3. The machine will automatically start the ice-making cycle. The first cycle may take slightly longer.

6.3 Adjusting Ice Thickness

You can adjust the ice cube thickness to suit your preference:

  1. During ice making, press the (+) or (-) buttons to increase or decrease the ice making time.
  2. Longer times result in thicker ice, shorter times result in thinner ice.
  3. Typical times for different thicknesses are: Thin (6-9 mins), Middle (10-14 mins), Thick (15-20 mins).

6.4 24-Hour Reservation Function

Use the Timer button to set a delayed start time for ice production within a 24-hour window.

6.5 De-icing Function

If ice accumulates excessively or becomes stuck, long-press the 'On/Off Blue Light / Ice Deicing' button to activate the de-icing function.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Automatic Self-Cleaning

The ice maker is equipped with an automatic self-cleaning function:

  1. Ensure the unit is connected to water and power.
  2. Press the 'Clean' button on the control panel.
  3. The machine will run a cleaning cycle, flushing water through the system.
  4. Once complete, the unit will return to standby or resume ice making.
