Setup and Installation
The Sunster Diesel Air Heater is designed for easy, installation-free use, making it highly portable. However, proper setup of fuel and exhaust systems is crucial for safe and efficient operation.
1. Placement
- Place the heater on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface.
- Ensure there is sufficient clearance around the heater for air circulation and to prevent fire hazards.
- Position the heater so that the exhaust pipe can be safely routed outside the vehicle or enclosure.
2. Fuel System Connection
- Fill the 10L fuel tank with clean diesel fuel only. Do not overfill.
- Connect the fuel hose from the fuel tank to the oil pump, and then from the oil pump to the heater unit. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
- Install the oil filter in the fuel line as shown in the diagram.
3. Exhaust and Air System
- Attach the intake pipe to the air inlet and the exhaust pipe to the exhaust outlet.
- Route the exhaust pipe safely outside the heated area to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Ensure it is not obstructed and is away from flammable materials.
- Attach the air outlet pipe to direct the heated air as desired.
- Install the silencer on the exhaust pipe to reduce noise.
4. Electrical Connection
- Connect the wire harness to the heater unit and to a 12V power source (e.g., vehicle battery). Ensure correct polarity.
- Connect the LCD switch/monitor to the designated port on the heater unit.

Operating Instructions
1. Initial Start-up
- After connecting all components, turn on the main power switch.
- The LCD monitor will light up. Press the power button on the LCD panel or remote control to start the heater.
- The heater will go through a preheating phase. During this time, the fuel pump will prime, and the glow plug will heat up. This process typically takes a few minutes.
- Once preheating is complete, the heater will begin to produce warm air.
2. Using the LCD Control Panel and Remote Control

- Power On/Off: Use the power button on the LCD panel or remote.
- Temperature/Gear Regulation: Use the up/down arrows on the LCD panel to adjust the desired temperature or heating gear. The heater will automatically regulate its output to maintain the set temperature.
- Timing Function (Countdown Mode): The LCD panel allows you to set a countdown timer for operation. Press the timer button and use the arrows to set the desired working duration (e.g., 10, 15, 20 minutes, as shown in image). The heater will automatically shut off after the set time.
- Language Switching: The LCD panel supports multiple languages (e.g., German, English, Russian). Refer to the on-screen menu for language selection.
- Voice Broadcast: The heater features voice broadcast for operational status and warnings.
- Remote Control: The remote control allows you to power on/off, adjust temperature, and activate other functions from a distance. Ensure the remote has fresh batteries.

3. Shutting Down
- Press the power button on the LCD panel or remote control to turn off the heater.
- The heater will enter a cool-down phase, during which the fan will continue to run to dissipate residual heat. Do not disconnect power during this phase.
- Once the cool-down phase is complete, the heater will fully shut down.
Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the heater with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure the air inlet and outlet grilles are free from dust and debris.
- Fuel Filter: Check and replace the fuel filter regularly, especially if you notice reduced fuel flow or performance issues.
- Fuel Tank: Keep the fuel tank clean and free of contaminants. Drain and clean the tank if storing the heater for an extended period.
- Exhaust System: Inspect the exhaust pipe and silencer for any blockages, corrosion, or damage. Ensure all connections remain tight.
- Electrical Connections: Check all electrical wiring and connections for signs of wear, corrosion, or looseness.
- Storage: When not in use, store the heater in a dry, clean place, protected from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Heater does not start | No power, low battery voltage, fuel tank empty, clogged fuel line, faulty glow plug. | Check power connection and battery voltage (must be 10.5-16V). Refill fuel tank. Check fuel lines and filter for blockages. Consult service for glow plug replacement. |
| Heater produces little heat | Low fuel supply, air inlet/outlet blocked, incorrect temperature setting, dirty combustion chamber. | Ensure sufficient fuel. Clear any obstructions from air paths. Adjust temperature setting higher. Perform maintenance on combustion chamber. |
| Excessive smoke from exhaust | Poor fuel quality, incorrect fuel-air mixture, clogged exhaust. | Use clean, high-quality diesel. Check for exhaust blockages. If problem persists, consult service. |
| Heater shuts off unexpectedly | Overheat protection triggered, low fuel, low voltage, internal fault. | Check for obstructions around the heater. Refill fuel. Check battery voltage. If an error code is displayed, refer to the LCD manual for specific codes. |
| Remote control not working | Dead batteries, out of range, interference. | Replace remote control batteries. Ensure you are within range. |
User Tips
- Automatic Temperature Control: To set the temperature automatically, use the up/down arrows on the LCD panel to select your desired temperature. The heater's intelligent control system will then adjust its output to maintain this temperature.
- Factory Settings: For specific factory settings related to 2KW models (e.g., RPM, Heze in service menu), it is recommended to consult the detailed service manual or contact customer support to avoid unintended operational issues.
- Pre-heat Function: Utilize the pre-heat function via the remote control to warm up your vehicle or space before entry, enhancing comfort.
- Fuel Efficiency: To maximize fuel efficiency, ensure the heated space is well-insulated and avoid frequent, drastic temperature changes.
- Noise Reduction: While the heater is designed for low noise, ensuring the silencer is properly installed and the unit is on a stable surface can further minimize operational sounds.
