This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Jansite 8.1" Car DVR. This device features a rotatable 2.5K front or inside camera, a 1080P rear camera, and supports both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with AUX connectivity. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure proper functionality and safety.

3. Product Overview

The Jansite Car DVR is designed to provide comprehensive driving recording and smart connectivity features. Key components and features include:

  • 8.1-inch IPS Touch Screen: High-resolution display for clear viewing and easy interaction.
  • Rotatable Front Camera: 2.5K (2560*1440P) resolution, capable of recording front view or inside/right view with 180° rotation.
  • Rear Camera (Optional): 1080P resolution with a 140° wide-angle lens, providing a comprehensive view of the rear.
  • Apple CarPlay & Android Auto: Supports both wired and wireless connections for seamless smartphone integration.

4. Setup

4.1 Mounting the DVR

  1. Attach the monitor base to the bottom of the DVR unit.
  2. Place the DVR unit on your car's dashboard in a position that does not obstruct your view of the road.
  3. Ensure the front camera has a clear view through the windshield. The front lens can rotate 180° and slide up/down for optimal positioning.

4.2 Wiring and Power Connection

  1. Connect the Car Charger to the DVR unit's power input port.
  2. Plug the other end of the Car Charger into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket.
  3. If you have the optional rear camera, connect its cable to the designated rear camera input port on the DVR. Route the cable neatly to the rear of the vehicle.
  4. If using the optional Power Box, follow its specific wiring instructions for constant power supply (e.g., for parking monitoring).

4.3 SD Card Installation

  1. Locate the Micro SD/TF card slot on the DVR unit.
  2. Insert a Class 10 or higher Micro SD/TF card (up to 256GB maximum external memory) into the slot until it clicks into place.
  3. It is recommended to format the SD card within the DVR settings upon first use and periodically thereafter to ensure optimal performance.

4.4 Initial Power On

Once connected to power, the DVR should power on automatically within 5 seconds (Fast boot feature). Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as language selection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation and Screen Controls

  • The 8.1-inch screen is a touch screen. Navigate menus and select options by tapping or swiping.
  • The main interface will display various applications and functions.

5.2 Camera Modes and Recording

The DVR supports three recording channels:

  • Front Camera: Records the view ahead of the vehicle in 2.5K (2560*1440P).
  • Inside/Right Camera: The front lens can be rotated 180° to record the interior of the car or the right side view in 2.5K (2560*1440P).
  • Rear Camera: Records the view behind the vehicle in 1080P.

Recording Features:

  • Loop-Cycle Recording: Automatically overwrites the oldest footage when the memory card is full.
  • G-Sensor: Detects sudden impacts or collisions and locks the current video footage to prevent it from being overwritten.
  • Motion Detection: Starts recording automatically when motion is detected in front of the camera (requires constant power, e.g., via Power Box).
  • NightShot Function: Enhances recording quality in low-light conditions.

5.3 CarPlay & Android Auto

The DVR supports both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This allows you to access your smartphone's navigation, music, calls, and other apps directly on the DVR screen.

CarPlay Connection Method:

  1. Open the settings on the DVR.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth.
  3. On your iPhone, search for and connect to the DVR's Bluetooth name.
  4. Connection successful.

Android Auto Connection Method:

  1. Open the settings on the DVR.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth.
  3. On your Android phone, allow contacts to make calls and select pairing with the DVR.
  4. Connection successful.

5.4 Split-Screen Display

The split-screen feature allows you to view two applications simultaneously, such as navigation and a camera feed, or music and the rear camera view.

Examples of split-screen display modes: CarPlay Call + Front Camera, CarPlay Home + Rear Camera, CarPlay Map + Front Camera, CarPlay Music + Rear Camera.

5.5 Audio Output Methods

You can output audio from the DVR using several methods:

  • Speaker Output (SPK): Audio plays directly from the DVR's built-in speaker.
  • AUX Line Wired Output: Connect the included 3.5mm AUX cable from the DVR to your car's AUX input to transmit audio to the original car speakers.
  • FM Wireless Output: Select from 12 preset frequencies to transmit the DVR's audio signal to your car's FM radio.
  • Bluetooth 5.0: Connect to external Bluetooth devices for audio playback.

5.6 Voice Control

Utilize Siri or Google Voice Control for hands-free operation of various functions, such as navigation, making calls, or playing music.

5.7 APP Connection (WiFi)

The built-in 2.4GHz high-speed WiFi module allows you to connect your mobile phone to the DVR. Through a dedicated mobile app, you can view live video, download recorded footage, take pictures, and adjust device settings remotely.

5.8 Mirrorlink

Mirrorlink functionality enables mobile screen projection, allowing you to display your smartphone's screen directly onto the DVR. For Android phones, you may need to install a specific app for full touch screen control. For iPhones, bilateral screen touch is not supported.

5.9 Real-time Reversing View

When reversing, the system will automatically switch to the rear camera view, displaying parking lines to assist with safe maneuvering. The optional rear camera is IP68 waterproof and provides a 140° wide-angle view with night vision capabilities.

6. Maintenance

6.1 General Care

  • Keep the DVR unit clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Ensure the camera lenses are clean for optimal recording quality. Use a lens cleaning cloth if necessary.

6.2 SD Card Management

  • Regularly format the Micro SD/TF card (e.g., once a month) through the DVR's settings to maintain performance and prevent data corruption.
  • Replace the SD card if you notice any issues with recording or data storage.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause / Solution
Device does not power on. Check if the car charger is properly connected to both the DVR and the car's power outlet. Ensure the car's power outlet is functioning.
Screen flicker or display issues. Try restarting the device. If the issue persists, it may indicate a hardware problem.
CarPlay/Android Auto not connecting. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the DVR and your smartphone. Follow the connection steps carefully. Remember that the DVR's Bluetooth connects to your phone, and your phone can then connect to the car radio's Bluetooth (dual Bluetooth mode).
Poor recording quality. Clean the camera lenses. Ensure the SD card is a Class 10 or higher and is not full or corrupted. Try formatting the SD card.
SD card error. Ensure the SD card is inserted correctly. Format the SD card. If the issue continues, try a different compatible SD card.

  • Bluetooth Connectivity: When using CarPlay or Android Auto, the DVR's Bluetooth connects directly to your phone. If you also want your phone to connect to your car's radio for calls or media, ensure your car's system supports dual Bluetooth modes.
  • SD Card Selection: Always use a high-quality Class 10 (or higher) Micro SD/TF card to ensure stable recording and prevent data loss.
  • Power Supply: The device requires constant power from the car charger to operate. The built-in battery is primarily for emergency power-off and not for extended standalone use.
  • Optimal Camera Angle: Take advantage of the 180° rotatable front camera to capture either the road ahead or the interior of your vehicle, depending on your needs.
