5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
The FY886B requires one 9V (6F22) battery (not included in some packages). To install the battery:

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off

- The meter will automatically shut down after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
6.2 Selecting Measurement Mode
The FY886B supports two main measurement modes: Wood and Building Material (BLD).
- Press the green MODE button (4) to switch between the Wood (General Timber icon 10) and Building Material (BLD icon 11) modes.
- Ensure the correct mode is selected for the material you are testing to get accurate readings.


6.3 Temperature Unit Selection
- Press the green °C/°F button (2) to switch the ambient temperature display between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
6.4 Data Hold Function

- Press the HOLD button (3) again to release the data hold and resume live readings.
