WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

General Chainsaw Safety

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection when operating the chainsaw.
  • Keep hands and body parts away from the chain when the tool is running.
  • Ensure the work area is clear of obstructions and bystanders.
  • Do not operate the chainsaw in wet conditions or in the presence of flammable liquids or gases.
  • Always remove the battery pack when not in use, before cleaning, or when changing accessories.
  • Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chainsaw when operating.

  • Use only Jemi Tool recommended accessories and replacement parts.

Product Specific Safety Features

  • Double Buttons to Start: The chainsaw requires simultaneous pressing of two buttons to start, preventing accidental activation.
  • Chain Baffle: A protective baffle is installed above the chain to help prevent wood chips from splashing towards the user.

5. Setup and Assembly

5.1. Battery Charging and Installation

  1. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. Connect the charger to a power outlet and then to the battery. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status.
  2. Once charged, slide the battery pack into the battery slot on the chainsaw handle until it clicks securely into place.
  3. To remove the battery, press the release button (if present) and slide the battery out.

5.2. Chain and Guide Bar Installation

The chainsaw typically comes with the chain and guide bar pre-installed or requires minimal assembly.

  1. Ensure the battery is removed before installation or adjustment.
  2. Loosen and remove the nut securing the side cover (often near the rotary button).
  3. Carefully place the guide bar onto the mounting studs.
  4. Loop the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face the correct direction (refer to markings on the chain or guide bar).
  5. Replace the side cover and hand-tighten the nut.
  6. Adjust chain tension using the rotary button. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand. There should be a small amount of slack (approx. 2-4mm) when pulled from the center of the guide bar.
  7. Tighten the nut securely.

Note: The product description mentions "Only need to remove a nut to replace the chain, we are equipped with two high quality chains, you can adjust the chain tension without disassembling after loading the chain." This implies a tool-less or single-nut adjustment system.

5.3. Automatic Lubrication System Setup

Your Jemi Tool Mini Chainsaw features an automatic oiling system for continuous chain lubrication.

Figure 3: Adding lubricant to the automatic oiling system.
  1. Locate the oil pot cap on the chainsaw body (refer to Figure 2, item 2).
  2. Unscrew the cap and add appropriate chain lubricant (bar and chain oil) into the reservoir. Do not overfill.
  3. Tighten the cap securely.
  4. During operation, press the lubrication button (often integrated into the cap or a separate button nearby) to activate the automatic oiling system. The system will dispense oil to the chain as needed.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Starting the Chainsaw

  1. Ensure the battery is securely installed and the chain is properly tensioned and lubricated.
  2. Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands.
  3. Press and hold the Protection Switch (safety lock-off button).
  4. While holding the Protection Switch, press the Power Switch (trigger) to start the chainsaw.
  5. Release the Protection Switch once the chainsaw starts running.

6.2. Cutting Operation

Figure 4: Efficient cutting with the Jemi Tool Mini Chainsaw.
  • Always maintain a stable stance and firm grip.
  • Allow the chain to reach full speed before engaging the wood.
  • Apply light pressure; let the chainsaw do the work. For a 6-inch diameter wood block, cutting can be achieved in approximately 3-4 seconds.
  • Be mindful of the chain baffle to prevent debris from splashing.
  • Avoid cutting near the tip of the guide bar to minimize kickback risk.
  • For larger branches, make an undercut first to prevent pinching.
  • Do not force the chainsaw through the cut. If the chain binds, release the trigger, free the chain, and restart the cut.

6.3. Stopping the Chainsaw

  • Release the Power Switch (trigger) to stop the chain.
  • Always remove the battery pack when finished with operation or when leaving the tool unattended.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.

7.1. Chain Lubrication

  • Regularly check the oil level in the lubrication system reservoir. Refill with appropriate bar and chain oil as needed.
  • Press the lubrication button periodically during extended use to ensure the chain remains adequately oiled.

7.2. Chain Tension

  • Check chain tension before each use and periodically during operation.
  • Adjust tension using the rotary button (refer to Section 5.2). A properly tensioned chain should be snug against the guide bar but still allow manual movement.
  • A loose chain can derail, and a too-tight chain can cause excessive wear and reduce cutting efficiency.

7.3. Cleaning and Storage

  • Remove the battery pack before cleaning.
  • Use a brush or compressed air to remove sawdust, chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, motor housing, and ventilation slots.
  • Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
  • For long-term storage, remove the battery and store it separately in a cool, dry place.

7.4. Chain Sharpening and Replacement

  • A dull chain will reduce cutting efficiency and increase strain on the motor. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary.
  • Refer to the chain manufacturer's instructions for proper sharpening techniques or consult a professional.
  • When replacing the chain, ensure it is the correct size and type for your Jemi Tool Mini Chainsaw.
