4. Compatibility Notes

  • ZigBee Hub Requirement: This module requires a Tuya ZigBee Hub to function. It is not compatible with ZigBee Hubs from other brands. Ensure you have a compatible Tuya ZigBee Hub before installation.
  • Motor Type: The switch module is designed for AC motors (100-250VAC, 50/60Hz). It is not compatible with DC motors.
  • Motor Wiring: Your motor must have 4 wires (Blue Wire, Brown Wire, Black Wire, Green/Yellow Wire) for proper connection.
  • Neutral Wire: A neutral wire is mandatory for the installation of this device. Without a neutral wire, the module cannot be used.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Pre-installation Checklist

  1. Ensure power is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.
  2. Confirm you have a compatible Tuya ZigBee Hub.
  3. Verify your curtain/blind motor is an AC motor with 4 wires and that a neutral wire is available in your switch box.

  • Connect the Live (L) and Neutral (N) input wires to the corresponding terminals on the module.
  • Connect the motor's Neutral (N) wire to the module's Output N terminal.
  • Connect the motor's Up (L1) and Down (L2) wires to the module's Output L1 and Output L2 terminals respectively.
  • Connect your manual wall switch wires to S1 and S2 terminals on the module.
  • Ensure the Earth Wire is properly connected to your motor and electrical system.

5.3 Physical Installation

The module's mini size (48mm x 47mm x 16.5mm) allows it to fit into various curtain switch installation boxes. After wiring, carefully place the module into the switch box behind your existing wall switch.

6.6 Group Control and Scene Settings

Utilize the app's features to create groups for controlling multiple curtain modules simultaneously. You can also set up personalized scenes that trigger curtain actions based on various conditions like sunrise, sunset, or weather, enhancing your smart home automation.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: The module itself is installed behind a wall switch and generally does not require cleaning. If the wall switch plate needs cleaning, ensure power is off before wiping with a dry, soft cloth.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tuya or Smart Life app for available firmware updates for your module to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the module is installed in a dry environment, away from direct moisture or extreme temperatures, to prevent damage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Pairing:
    • Ensure the module is powered on and in pairing mode (indicated by a blinking light).
    • Verify your Tuya ZigBee Hub is online and within range (within 10 meters).
    • Try resetting the module by pressing and holding the pairing button for 5 seconds.
    • Check your Wi-Fi network for stability.
  • Motor Not Responding:
    • Confirm that the motor is an AC type and has 4 wires. This module does not support DC motors.
    • Double-check all wiring connections according to the diagram in Section 5.2. Ensure the neutral wire is correctly connected.
    • Verify the motor itself is functioning correctly when controlled manually.
  • App Control Issues:
    • Ensure your smartphone has an active internet connection.
    • Update the Tuya/Smart Life app to the latest version.
    • Check if the ZigBee Hub is connected to the internet and functioning properly.
  • Inaccurate Percentage Control:
    • Calibrate the curtain limits within the Smart Life app settings for the device. This typically involves running the curtain fully open and fully closed to set the travel limits.

9. User Tips

  • ZigBee Mesh Network: For optimal performance and reliability, especially with multiple ZigBee devices, ensure your ZigBee mesh network is robust. Adding more ZigBee devices (like smart bulbs or plugs) can extend the network range and stability.
  • Calibration: Always perform the curtain calibration in the app after initial setup or if you notice inconsistencies in percentage control. This ensures the module accurately tracks the curtain's position.
  • Voice Command Precision: When using voice control, be specific with commands. For percentage control, remember that only Alexa supports this feature directly.
  • Safety First: Always disconnect power before performing any wiring or installation tasks. If you are unsure about electrical work, consult a qualified electrician.
