5. Installation Guide
5.1. Physical Installation
- Identify suitable mounting locations in your PC case or on your radiator. The ZL-120 fans are 120mm in size.
- Align the fan with the screw holes. Ensure the fan is oriented correctly for desired airflow (intake or exhaust). The front of the fan typically shows the Jonsbo logo and the blades are designed for air intake from this side, pushing air out the back.
- Secure the fan using the provided mounting screws. Do not overtighten.
- The fans feature 8 shock-absorbing pads to reduce resonance and wear. Ensure these pads are properly seated against the mounting surface.

5.2. Wiring Connections
The ZL-120 fans utilize a wire-free splicing design for easy connection between multiple fans. Each fan has a 4-pin PWM connector for power and speed control, and a 3-pin ARGB connector for lighting.
- Daisy-chaining Fans: For multiple fans, use the upper and lower sliding buckle structure to connect them directly. This connects the contact points and shrapnel using 2-3um gold plating for a longer service life. Simply slide one fan into the next.
- PWM Connection: Connect the 4-pin PWM cable from the first fan in the chain (or individual fan) to an available 4-pin fan header on your motherboard (e.g., 'CPU_FAN', 'SYS_FAN').
- ARGB Connection: Connect the 3-pin ARGB cable from the first fan in the chain (or individual fan) to an available 3-pin 5V ARGB header on your motherboard (e.g., 'ARGB_HEADER', 'D_LED'). Do NOT connect to a 12V RGB header, as this will damage the LEDs.

Important Note: If you intend to separate the fans and install them in different areas of your chassis, you will need to purchase additional light data lines (ARGB extension cables) for each separated fan to ensure proper lighting functionality.
5.3. Motherboard Synchronization
The ZL-120 fans are designed to synchronize with various motherboard ARGB control systems, including ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync, and ASRock Polychrome Sync. Ensure your motherboard has a compatible 3-pin 5V ARGB header.

6. Operation
6.1. Fan Speed Control (PWM)
The 4-pin PWM connector allows your motherboard to automatically control the fan speed based on CPU or system temperatures. This ensures efficient cooling when needed and quieter operation during lighter loads. You can typically adjust PWM curves and fan profiles through your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings or dedicated software.
6.2. ARGB Lighting Control
The 3-pin 5V ARGB connector enables control over the fan's lighting effects. Once connected to a compatible motherboard header or an external ARGB controller, you can customize colors, patterns, and synchronization using the motherboard's RGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light) or the controller's interface.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the fan blades and frame to remove dust buildup. Use a can of compressed air or a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the fan is powered off and disconnected before cleaning.
- Inspection: Regularly check all cables and connectors to ensure they are securely attached.
- Avoid Liquids: Do not use liquid cleaners directly on the fan or its electrical components.
8. Troubleshooting
- Fan Not Spinning:
- Check if the 4-pin PWM connector is securely plugged into the motherboard fan header.
- Verify that the fan header is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
- Ensure the power supply is providing adequate power.
- ARGB Lights Not Working:
- Check if the 3-pin 5V ARGB connector is securely plugged into the correct motherboard header or controller.
- Confirm that the ARGB header is 5V and not 12V. Connecting to a 12V header will damage the LEDs.
- Ensure ARGB software or controller settings are configured correctly.
- If using daisy-chained fans, ensure all connections are secure, especially if fans are separated and require additional ARGB cables.
- Excessive Noise:
- Check for any obstructions (cables, debris) hitting the fan blades.
- Ensure the fan is securely mounted and the anti-vibration pads are in place.
- Adjust fan speed curves in BIOS/UEFI or software to reduce RPM at idle temperatures.
9. User Tips
- Optimal Airflow: Plan your fan placement carefully to create a positive or negative pressure system within your case for best cooling performance.
- Cable Management: Utilize the wire-free splicing feature to minimize cable clutter, especially when installing multiple fans in a row.
- Software Control: Experiment with your motherboard's ARGB software to discover various lighting effects and customize them to match your build's aesthetic.
- Regular Cleaning: Dust can significantly impact cooling performance and fan longevity. Regular cleaning is crucial.
