3. Setup Instructions

  1. 3.1. Nozzle Selection and Attachment

Choose the appropriate nozzle (1.3mm, 1.4mm, or 1.8mm) for your specific painting application. Ensure the nozzle and needle are clean before assembly.

Three different colored nozzles (1.3mm green, 1.4mm blue, 1.8mm orange) laid out next to the spray gun

Carefully screw the selected nozzle onto the spray gun body. Ensure it is hand-tightened securely to prevent air or paint leaks.

  2. 3.2. Attaching the Paint Cup

Screw the 600ml gravity-feed paint cup onto the top of the spray gun body. Ensure a tight seal to prevent spills and maintain proper paint flow.

  3. 3.3. Air Supply Connection

Connect the spray gun to an air compressor using a suitable air hose and the included quick connector. Ensure your air compressor can provide the required air consumption of 200 l/min (4-6CFM) and maintain a working pressure of 2-3 bar (30 PSI).

Verify all connections are secure to prevent air leaks.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. 4.1. Paint Preparation

Thoroughly mix and thin your paint or varnish according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Strain the paint to remove any impurities that could clog the nozzle.

Pour the prepared paint into the 600ml gravity-feed cup.

  2. 4.2. Adjusting Air Pressure

Set your air compressor to deliver a working pressure of 2-3 bar (30 PSI) at the gun. Use an inline air regulator if necessary for precise control.

  3. 4.3. Adjusting Spray Pattern

The spray gun features adjustment knobs for controlling the spray pattern, fluid output, and air flow.

    • Pattern Adjustment Knob: Located at the top rear of the gun, this knob controls the shape of the spray pattern from a round spot to a wide fan.
    • Fluid Adjustment Knob: Located at the bottom rear, this knob controls the amount of paint flowing through the gun.
    • Air Adjustment Knob: Located at the bottom front, this knob controls the air flow to the air cap.

    Figure 4: Spray Pattern Adjustment

Always test the spray pattern on a scrap piece of material before applying to your workpiece to ensure desired coverage and finish.

  4. 4.4. Spraying Technique

Hold the gun perpendicular to the surface, maintaining a consistent distance (typically 6-8 inches). Move your arm, not just your wrist, to ensure an even coat. Overlap each pass by about 50%.

Release the trigger at the end of each pass to avoid paint buildup.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your spray gun.

  1. 5.1. Immediate Cleaning After Use

After each use, empty any remaining paint from the cup. Pour a small amount of appropriate cleaning solvent (e.g., paint thinner for oil-based paints, water for water-based paints) into the cup.

Spray the solvent through the gun until it runs clear. This flushes out most of the paint from the internal passages.

  2. 5.2. Disassembly and Thorough Cleaning

Disassemble the air cap, fluid nozzle, and needle. Use the provided cleaning brush and solvent to thoroughly clean all components. Pay special attention to the small holes in the air cap and nozzle.

Do not use metal objects to clean the nozzle or air cap holes, as this can damage them and affect the spray pattern.

  3. 5.3. Checking O-Rings and Seals

Inspect all O-rings and seals for wear or damage. Replace them if necessary to prevent air or fluid leaks. Lubricate O-rings with a small amount of spray gun lubricant.

  4. 5.4. Reassembly

Once all parts are clean and dry, reassemble the spray gun. Ensure the needle, fluid nozzle, and air cap are correctly aligned and tightened.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Uneven Spray Pattern Clogged air cap or nozzle, incorrect air pressure, improper paint thinning. Clean air cap and nozzle. Adjust air pressure to 2-3 bar (30 PSI). Ensure paint is thinned correctly.
Paint Spitting or Pulsating Low paint level in cup, loose fluid nozzle, air leak, clogged fluid passage. Refill paint cup. Tighten fluid nozzle. Check all connections for air leaks. Clean fluid passage.
No Paint Flow Clogged nozzle, needle stuck, no paint in cup, air cap blocked. Clean nozzle and needle. Ensure paint cup is filled. Clear air cap blockages.
Excessive Overspray Too high air pressure, gun too far from surface, paint too thin. Reduce air pressure. Move gun closer to surface. Adjust paint viscosity.

7. User Tips

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator, safety glasses, and gloves, when operating the spray gun.
  • Practice on scrap material to perfect your technique and adjustments before working on your final project.
  • Maintain a consistent gun speed and distance from the surface for an even finish.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation in your work area to disperse paint fumes.
  • Regularly check and clean the air filter on your compressor to ensure a clean air supply to the gun.
