3. Setup and Installation

3.1. Physical Installation

The HMI unit is designed for panel mounting. Ensure the installation environment meets the specified working temperature (0-45°C) and humidity (5-90% non-condensing) requirements.

  • Cutout Size: Both TPC7012El and TPC7022Ei require a panel cutout of 192mm x 138mm.
  • Panel Protection: The front panel is rated IP65, providing protection against dust and low-pressure water jets.

3.2. Wiring

Proper wiring is crucial for the safe and reliable operation of the HMI. Refer to the following guidelines and diagrams.

  • Power Input: Both models require a 24V DC power supply (±20%). Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals to the designated power interface on the rear panel.
  • Serial Communication: The HMI supports RS232 and RS485 serial communication. Refer to the serial port definition for correct pin assignments.
  • Ethernet (TPC7022Ei only): The TPC7022Ei model includes one 10/100M Ethernet port for network communication.
  • USB Ports: Both models feature one USB Host port and one USB Slave port. The USB Slave port is used for program download.

  1. Locate the installation file for MCGSPro 3.3.6.6354 SP1.3 Designer.
  2. Double-click the setup file to begin the installation.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts. Ensure to select English as the language during installation if prompted, or change it within the software settings after installation.
  4. After installation, you can download your HMI project to the device via the USB Slave port.

4. Operating Instructions

Once powered on and configured with a project, the HMI operates as a touch-sensitive display for controlling and monitoring connected PLCs and industrial processes.

  • Touch Screen Interface: Interact with the HMI using its 4-wire resistive touch panel.
  • Project Navigation: Navigate through screens and controls as defined in your MCGSPro project.
  • Data Monitoring: View real-time data from connected PLCs.
  • Control Functions: Send commands and adjust parameters to the PLC via the HMI interface.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your MCGS HMI, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and casing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the display or plastic.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the HMI within the specified temperature (0-45°C) and humidity (5-90% non-condensing) ranges. Avoid direct sunlight, excessive dust, and corrosive gases.
  • Power Supply: Ensure a stable 24V DC power supply within the specified tolerance (±20%) to prevent damage.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check for firmware updates from MCGS to ensure the HMI has the latest features and bug fixes.

6. Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your MCGS HMI.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
HMI does not power on.No power supply or incorrect wiring.Check 24V DC power connection and ensure correct polarity. Verify power source is active.
Communication failure with PLC.Incorrect wiring, wrong protocol settings, or incompatible PLC.Verify serial/Ethernet cable connections. Check communication parameters (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits) in both HMI project and PLC. Ensure PLC is supported (refer to compatibility list).
Touch screen unresponsive.Screen calibration issue or physical damage.Attempt to recalibrate the touch screen (refer to MCGSPro documentation). If physically damaged, contact support.
Project download fails.Incorrect USB connection, driver issues, or software version mismatch.Ensure USB Slave port is used. Install correct USB drivers. Verify MCGSPro software version compatibility with HMI firmware.
