Setup and Assembly Instructions
Assembly is required for this daybed. It is recommended to have two adults for assembly. Clear a spacious area and lay out all components on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches.
- Unpack and Identify Parts: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Compare them against the parts list (if provided separately) and the diagrams in this manual.
- Assemble Main Daybed Frame: Attach the side panels to the back panel and front panel using the provided hardware. Ensure all connections are secure but do not fully tighten screws until the frame is stable.
- Install Main Bed Slats: Place the wooden slats across the main daybed frame. Secure them according to the instructions, typically by screwing them into the side rails or using plastic caps.
- Assemble Trundle Frame: Construct the trundle frame, including its side rails and end panels, using the provided hardware.
- Install Trundle Slats: Attach the wooden slats to the trundle frame.
- Insert Trundle: Carefully slide the assembled trundle frame into position under the main daybed frame. Ensure it moves smoothly on its casters.
- Final Tightening: Once the entire structure is assembled and stable, go back and fully tighten all screws and bolts. Do not overtighten.
- Place Mattresses: Position your twin-size mattresses on both the main daybed and the trundle.

Operating Instructions
The Flieks Daybed offers flexible configurations for seating and sleeping.
Using the Trundle (Twin Configuration)
- To Pull Out: Gently pull the handle or front panel of the trundle outwards from under the main daybed. The trundle will roll out on its casters.
- To Store: Push the trundle back under the main daybed until it is fully recessed.

Converting to King Size (Pop-Up Trundle)
- Pull Out Trundle: Fully extend the trundle from under the main daybed.
- Engage Pop-Up Mechanism: Locate the pop-up mechanism on the trundle frame (often a lever or spring-loaded system). Lift the trundle frame upwards until it locks into place, bringing it to the same height as the main daybed.
- Align Trundle: Position the popped-up trundle next to the main daybed to create a larger sleeping surface, effectively converting it into a King-size bed.
- To Lower and Store: Disengage the pop-up mechanism (usually by pressing a release lever or button) and carefully lower the trundle frame. Then, push it back under the main daybed.

Maintenance
- Cleaning Velvet Upholstery: Regularly vacuum the velvet fabric using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. For tougher stains, consult a professional upholstery cleaner or use a velvet-safe cleaning product following its instructions. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
- Frame and Slats: Periodically check all bolts and screws to ensure they remain tight. Retighten as necessary to maintain stability. Inspect wooden slats for any signs of damage or cracking; replace if needed.
- Trundle Mechanism: Keep the trundle's casters and pop-up mechanism free of dust and obstructions. Lubricate moving parts with a silicone-based spray if movement becomes stiff.
- Weight Capacity: Adhere to the recommended weight capacity for both the main daybed and the trundle to prevent damage to the frame and slats.
Troubleshooting
- Trundle Not Sliding Smoothly: Check for obstructions under the daybed or in the caster wheels. Ensure the casters are clean and free of debris. Verify that the trundle frame is properly aligned and not warped.
- Trundle Not Popping Up/Down: Inspect the pop-up mechanism for any bent parts or obstructions. Ensure the release lever/button is functioning correctly. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the moving parts if they are stiff.
- Squeaking Noises: Squeaking often indicates loose connections. Retighten all assembly bolts and screws on both the main daybed and trundle frames. If the noise persists, check the wooden slats for friction points and consider adding felt pads.
- Unstable Frame: Ensure all hardware is fully tightened. If the frame still feels unstable, disassemble and reassemble, carefully following each step to ensure correct alignment of all parts.
