6. Setup & Installation

6.1 Mounting the Camera

  1. Choose a suitable location for installation, ensuring a clear field of view and within range of your network connection.
  2. Use the mounting base as a template to mark the drill holes on the wall or ceiling.
  3. Drill the holes and insert the provided wall plugs.
  4. Secure the mounting base to the surface using the mounting screws.
  5. Attach the camera to the mounting base and adjust its angle as needed.

6.2 Connection Methods

The camera supports various connection methods:

Diagram illustrating three connection methods for the IP camera: 1. To a Standard PoE Switch, 2. To an ONVIF PoE NVR, 3. To a Router with a 12V power adapter.
Figure 6.1: Camera Connection Methods
  1. Connect to a Standard PoE Switch: Connect the camera's RJ45 port directly to a PoE switch using a network cable. The PoE switch will provide both power and data.
  2. Connect to an ONVIF PoE NVR: Connect the camera's RJ45 port to a PoE NVR using a network cable. The NVR will supply power and manage recordings. This method offers plug-and-play compatibility with TPTEK NVRs and supports ONVIF protocol for other compatible NVRs like Hikvision and Dahua.
  3. Connect to a Router (Non-PoE): If you are not using PoE, connect the camera's RJ45 port to your router using a network cable. You will also need to connect the camera to a 12V power adapter (not included) via its power port.

6.3 TF Card Installation

The camera supports a Micro SD card up to 128GB for local storage. The SD card slot is located inside the camera body. To install:

  1. Carefully open the camera housing to access the TF card slot.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card into the slot until it clicks into place.
  3. Close the camera housing securely, ensuring the waterproof lid is properly sealed.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, dry cloth to ensure clear image quality. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the iCSee/XMEye Pro app or TPTEK website periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Storage Management: If using a TF card, the camera automatically overwrites old footage when full. Regularly back up important recordings.
  • Environmental Check: Periodically inspect the camera's mounting and cables for any signs of wear or damage, especially in harsh weather conditions.

9. Troubleshooting

No image/video feed:
  • Check power connection (DC12V or PoE).
  • Verify network cable connection.
  • Ensure the camera is properly added and online in the mobile app/VMS.
  • Restart the camera and your network equipment (router/switch).
Poor image quality:
  • Clean the camera lens.
  • Check network bandwidth; a slow connection can affect streaming quality.
  • Ensure sufficient lighting for optimal night vision performance.
Motion detection not working or too many false alarms:
  • Adjust motion detection sensitivity settings in the app.
  • Refine detection zones to exclude areas with frequent irrelevant movement (e.g., trees swaying).
  • Ensure Human Body Detection is enabled if you only want to detect people.
Two-way audio issues:
  • Check microphone and speaker settings in the app.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the microphone or speaker.
  • Verify network connection stability.
TF card not recording:
  • Ensure the TF card is correctly inserted and recognized by the camera (check app status).
  • Format the TF card through the app if it's a new card or experiencing issues.
  • Verify recording settings (e.g., continuous recording, motion-triggered recording) are enabled.

10. User Tips

  • For optimal outdoor performance, ensure the camera is installed in a location that minimizes direct exposure to harsh elements while maintaining a clear view.
  • Regularly review recorded footage to ensure your detection settings are effective and adjust as needed.
  • Utilize the H.265 compression for efficient storage and bandwidth usage, especially if recording continuously to a TF card or NVR.
  • Consider using a PoE NVR or switch for a simplified installation with a single cable for both power and data.
