WITRN CC1

WITRN CC1 USB Voltage and Current Meter

Model: CC1

1. Introduction

The WITRN CC1 is a compact, high-precision USB Type-C voltage and current meter designed for monitoring power delivery (PD3.1) up to 28V. It features a color IPS display, 16-bit ADC for accurate measurements, and offline data storage capabilities. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your CC1 meter.

  • WITRN CC1 USB Voltage and Current Meter
  • User Manual (this document)

3. Setup

The WITRN CC1 meter is a pass-through device. To use it, connect it in-line between your power source (e.g., USB-C charger) and the device you wish to monitor (the load).

  1. Connect the male USB-C connector of the CC1 meter to your power source (charger).
  2. Connect your load device (e.g., smartphone, laptop, power bank) to the female USB-C port on the CC1 meter.
  3. Ensure both connections are secure. The meter's screen will activate and display readings once a load device is connected and drawing power.

Important Note: The meter requires a connected load device to function and display readings. If only connected to a power source without a load, the screen may remain black.

4. Operating Instructions

The CC1 meter provides real-time monitoring and data logging capabilities.

4.1 Real-time Display

The color IPS screen continuously displays:

  • U (Voltage): Measured in Volts (V)
  • I (Current): Measured in Amperes (A)
  • P (Power): Measured in Watts (W)

4.2 Buttons

The device features two buttons on the side (Japanese ALPS brand). These buttons are used for navigating through different display modes and accessing recorded data. Specific button functions may vary depending on the firmware version; refer to the on-screen prompts for guidance.

4.3 Data Logging and Storage

The CC1 meter includes an independent electronic hard drive (EEPROM) with wear-leveling algorithm for reliable data storage. It can record and save capacity data offline, even after power loss.

  • Capacity Record: Tracks total energy delivered in Watt-hours (Wh).
  • Average and Peak Values: During charging sessions, the meter can record and display the maximum (MAX) and average (AVG) values for voltage, current, and power.

4.4 Advanced Features

  • PD Listening Function: The meter supports PD listening (software simulation) for public version PD protocols. Note that some extended fast charging devices may not be fully compatible.
  • EPR PD Listening Function: Enhanced Power Range (EPR) PD listening is supported.
  • Fast Charge Display: The meter can infer and display D+D- voltage and working current during fast charging, though these values are for reference only and may not be perfectly accurate.
  • Protocol Detection: Supports detection, triggering, and judging for various fast charge protocols including QC, Xiaomi, Huawei, VOOC, UFCS, and OPPO.
  • E-Marker Cable Detection: This feature is supported with the use of external accessories.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your WITRN CC1 meter, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, which can damage the screen or internal components.
  • Storage: Store the meter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the device with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. This can void any potential warranty and may cause damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WITRN CC1 meter, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Screen is black when connected to a charger:
The CC1 meter requires a load device (e.g., phone, laptop) to be connected to its output port to draw power and activate the display. Ensure a device is connected and actively charging.
  • Inaccurate readings:
Check all USB-C connections to ensure they are firm and secure. Try using different, known-good cables and power sources to rule out external factors. Ensure the meter is correctly oriented (though bidirectional current measurement is supported, consistent orientation is recommended for primary use).
  • No display or unresponsive buttons:
Disconnect and reconnect the meter from both the power source and the load. If the issue persists, ensure the power source is providing power and the load device is attempting to draw power.
  • Device not charging through the meter:
Verify that both the power source and the load device are functional when connected directly. Check the cables for damage. Ensure the CC1 meter is correctly inserted.
