1. Introduction

The M-VAVE Lost Tempo is a versatile guitar effect pedal designed to enhance your musical performance and creativity. It integrates three essential functions: a powerful drum machine, a flexible looper, and a high-precision tuner, all within a compact and user-friendly unit. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Lost Tempo pedal.

  • Drum Machine: Features 30 built-in drum types with customizable rhythms (4/4, 3/4, 6/8) via a dedicated mobile application. Supports single drum mode for flexible drumming.
  • Looper: Offers 4 loop storage positions with a total recording capacity of up to 11 minutes (up to 5 minutes per single loop). Supports unlimited overdubbing, undo, and redo functions.

  • Connectivity: USB Type-C port for data transmission (import/export WAV audio files) and power.

3. Setup

Before using your M-VAVE Lost Tempo pedal, please follow these steps to ensure proper setup:

3.1 Package Contents

  • 1 x User Manual (English)

3.2 Power Supply

The Lost Tempo pedal can be powered in two ways:

  1. DC 9V Power Adapter: Connect a DC 9V power adapter (≥300mA, internal negative and external positive) to the DC 9V input jack (11).
  2. USB 5V Power: Connect a USB 5V power source (≥300mA, e.g., power bank or computer USB port) using the provided Type-C cable to the USB port (9).

3.3 Audio Connections

  1. Input (8): Connect your guitar or other musical instrument to the 1/4" MONO audio input jack.
  2. Output (12): Connect the 1/4" MONO audio output jack to your amplifier or audio interface.
  3. Headphones (10): For silent practice, connect headphones to the earphone output jack.
  4. USB (9): Connect the Type-C cable to a computer for data transmission (import/export WAV files) or for USB power.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Controls Overview

  • LOOPER VOL Knob (1): Adjusts the volume of the looper playback. The adjacent LED indicates looper status.
  • DRUM VOL Knob (2): Adjusts the volume of the drum machine. The adjacent LED indicates drum status (Red: playing, Green: stopped).
  • Left and Right Buttons (3): Used for navigation and mode selection.
  • Display (5): Shows current drum number (d01-d30), loop number (L1-L4), or tuner note.
  • LOOPER Footswitch (6): Controls looper functions.
  • DRUM Footswitch (7): Controls drum machine functions.

4.2 Drum Machine Operation

The Lost Tempo features 30 built-in drum types and supports customization via a mobile app.

  1. Selecting Drum Type: Tap the Left or Right button (3) to cycle through the 30 drum types (d01-d30).
  2. Adjusting Drum Volume: Use the DRUM VOL knob (2) to set the desired drum volume.
  3. Start/Stop Drum: Click the DRUM footswitch (7) to start or stop the drum playback.
  4. Stop All Drums: Double-click the DRUM footswitch (7) to stop all drum patterns.
  5. Speed Adjustment (TAP Tempo):
        a. In the speed range of 40-240 beats per minute, tap the central button (between Left and Right buttons) twice to adjust the speed of the drum. The pedal will only register the speed of the last two taps.
        b. Alternatively, you can define the drum speed numerically using the mobile app.
  6. Single Drum Mode: In this mode, the LOOPER footswitch acts as the TAP button, and the DRUM footswitch controls drum on/off.

4.3 Looper Operation

The looper allows you to record and layer up to 4 loops, with a total recording time of 11 minutes.

  1. Adjusting Looper Volume: Use the LOOPER VOL knob (1) to set the desired looper volume.
  2. Selecting a Loop: Hold the Left or Right button (3) for 1 second to select one of the 4 loop positions (L1-L4).
  3. Recording a Loop (Regular Mode): Click the LOOPER footswitch (6) once to start recording. The LOOPER LED will flash red. Click again to stop recording and start playback.
  4. Recording a Loop (Synchronous Mode): Tap the Left and Right buttons (3) simultaneously to enter synchronous recording mode. The LOOPER LED will flash rapidly. The looper will automatically start recording after the first beat of the drum machine.
  5. Overdubbing: While a loop is playing, click the LOOPER footswitch (6) to start overdubbing. Click again to stop overdubbing.
  6. Undo/Redo: Hold the LOOPER footswitch (6) to undo the last overdub. Hold again to redo.
  7. Delete Loop: Double-click the LOOPER footswitch (6) to stop playback. Hold the LOOPER footswitch (6) to delete the current loop.

4.4 Tuner Operation

The built-in tuner provides high-precision tuning for your instrument.

  1. Activate Tuner: Hold the central button (between Left and Right buttons) for 3 seconds to enter TUNER mode. The display (5) will show the detected note.
  2. Tuning: Play a single note on your instrument. The display will show the note name, and the LEDs will indicate if the pitch is flat, sharp, or in tune.
  3. Exit Tuner: Tap the Left or Right button (3) simultaneously for 3 seconds to exit TUNER mode.

4.5 APP Integration

The M-VAVE Lost Tempo pedal can be connected to a mobile application for enhanced control and customization.

  1. Connect to APP: Connect the pedal to your smartphone via Bluetooth (refer to the app's instructions for pairing).
  2. Customizing Drums: Use the app to customize drum patterns, edit existing ones, and save your creations. The app supports real 16Bit drum samples.
  3. Import/Export Audio: Connect the pedal to a computer via the Type-C USB cable (9) to import or export audio files in standard WAV format.

  • App Connectivity Issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and the pedal. Restart both the app and the pedal if connection fails.
