1. Introduction
The AUTOOL BT30 OBD Emergency Power Cable is an essential tool for automotive maintenance, designed to provide continuous power to a vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU) during battery replacement. This prevents the loss of critical data and settings. Additionally, it can be used for automotive electrical leakage detection, helping to diagnose parasitic draws on the vehicle's electrical system. The device features a high-definition digital display for real-time voltage and current monitoring, along with robust security protections including a built-in 3A fuse, overvoltage, overcurrent, and reverse polarity protection.

- When operating, ensure nearby personnel or animals maintain a safe distance. Avoid working in rain, water, or damp environments. Keep the work area well-ventilated, dry, clean, and bright.
2.2 Electrical Safety Rules
- Do not twist or severely bend the power cable, as this may damage the internal wiring.
- If the power cable shows any signs of damage, do not use the device. Damaged cables pose a risk of electrical injury.
- Keep the power cable away from heat sources, oil sources, sharp edges, and moving parts.
- Damaged power cables must be replaced by the manufacturer, their technicians, or similarly qualified personnel to prevent hazardous situations or injury.
2.3 Equipment Safety Rules
- Never leave the equipment unattended when it is powered on. Always disconnect the power cable and ensure the device is turned off when it is not being used for its intended purpose!
- Do not attempt to repair the equipment yourself.
- Before connecting the device to power, check that the battery voltage matches the value specified on the nameplate. Mismatched voltage can cause serious hazards and damage the device.
- It is essential to protect the equipment from rainwater, moisture, mechanical damage, overload, and rough handling.
2.4 Application Safety
- Before use, check the power cord and connection cables for any damage. If any damage is found, do not operate the device.
- Use the equipment only in compliance with all safety instructions, technical documents, and vehicle manufacturer specifications.
- If replacement accessories are needed, use only brand new and unopened products.
2.5 Personnel Protection Safety Rules
- Protective gear may be worn when using this product.
- Place chocks under the wheels and do not test the vehicle while it is unattended.
- Exercise caution around the distributor cap, ignition wires, and spark plugs when working near the ignition coil. These components generate high voltage when the engine is running and can be dangerous.
- Shift the transmission into 'Park' (automatic transmission) or 'Neutral' (manual transmission), and make sure to engage the handbrake.
- Do not connect or disconnect any test equipment while the ignition switch is on or the engine is running.
- Always ensure you have a stable footing to safely control equipment in case of emergencies.
3. Product Overview
3.1 Product Features
- Power management system with a core processor.
- Displays battery voltage (prevents the use of a depleted battery and avoids ECU power loss due to insufficient voltage during battery replacement).
- Display of current to detect circuit leakage and monitor vehicle current consumption when not in use.
- Reverse polarity protection.
- Simultaneous display of voltage and current.
- Overcurrent protection with a built-in 3A fast-blow fuse.
- Overvoltage protection activates power-off protection if the device voltage exceeds 16V.
Any other use is considered as exceeding the intended purpose of the equipment and is prohibited.

4. Setup & Operating Instructions
4.1 Automotive Electrical Leakage Detection
- Prepare a fully charged spare battery and connect power clips securely (red clip to positive, black clip to negative). After confirming correct connection, the device screen shows battery voltage data.
- Connect the device OBD interface to the vehicle OBD interface.
- Remove fuses from the vehicle fuse box one by one, leaving only the critical circuits such as the ECU powered. This prevents leakage in some components that could cause excessive current, triggering the overcurrent protection of this product and potentially resulting in the loss of critical data in the ECU.
- Disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal. Please note that the disconnected negative terminal must not touch any vehicle metal parts to prevent short circuits. Observe the current at this moment; the operation of automotive relays is achieved by the opening and closing of contacts, which causes the current to fluctuate within a certain range.
- Pull out and plug in the fuses in the vehicle's fuse box one by one and monitor current fluctuations. A sudden current increase indicates potential leakage in the fuse's circuit. At this point, refer to the vehicle circuit diagram to locate the circuit where the fuse is located and conduct leakage inspection on that circuit.
4.2 Battery Replacement
- Prepare a fully charged spare battery and connect power clips securely (red clip to positive, black clip to negative). After confirming correct connection, the device screen shows battery voltage data.
- Connect the device OBD interface to the vehicle OBD interface.
- Remove fuses from the vehicle's fuse box one by one, leaving only the critical circuits such as the ECU powered. This prevents leakage in some components that could cause excessive current, triggering the overcurrent protection of this product and potentially resulting in the loss of critical data in the ECU.
- Remove the old battery from the vehicle and replace it with a new one.
