6. Setup
6.1 Mounting the Device
The R1 Pro can be mounted to various helmet types including MODULAR, MOTOCROSS, Open face, Full Face, and Flip Up helmets using the provided Hook Clip and Velcro Clip. Choose the most secure and comfortable mounting position on the side of your helmet, ensuring the camera lens has a clear view.
6.2 Charging the Device
- Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the Power/Walkie-Talkie Connecting Port on the R1 Pro.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a 5V/1A power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
- The Bluetooth Indicator Light will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, blue for fully charged).
- A full charge takes approximately 2 hours. The device can be used while recharging.
6.3 Power On/Off
- Power On: Press and hold the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button until the indicator lights illuminate.
- Power Off: Press and hold the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button until the indicator lights turn off.
6.4 Bluetooth Pairing (Mobile Phone)
- Ensure the R1 Pro is powered off.
- Press and hold the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button for approximately 5-7 seconds until the Bluetooth Indicator Light flashes red and blue alternately, indicating pairing mode.
- On your mobile phone, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
- Select "FreedConn R1 Pro" from the list of available devices.
- Once paired, the Bluetooth Indicator Light will flash blue slowly.
6.5 Intercom Pairing (Group Communication)
The R1 Pro supports full duplex wireless intercom for up to 6 riders. It is compatible with FreedConn T-MAX S, T-MAX E, T-REX, and F1 Plus multi-person intercom machines, as well as other brands.
- Ensure all R1 Pro units (and compatible devices) are powered on and not connected to any other Bluetooth devices.
- Initiate pairing mode on the first two devices (e.g., Device A and Device B) by following the specific instructions for intercom pairing (usually a long press on a dedicated intercom button or the Multi-function button).
- Once Device A and B are paired, repeat the process to add Device C to Device B, then Device D to Device C, and so on, forming a chain.
- Refer to the detailed intercom pairing instructions in the full user manual for specific button sequences for your group size and device combination.

6.6 WiFi Connection for App and Video Download
The R1 Pro features built-in WiFi for connecting to a dedicated smartphone app, allowing you to download recorded videos and photos directly to your phone.
- Download the FreedConn R1 Pro companion app from your smartphone's app store.
- Power on the R1 Pro and press the WiFi Button to activate its WiFi hotspot. The WiFi indicator light will illuminate.
- On your smartphone, go to WiFi settings and connect to the R1 Pro's WiFi network (usually named "FreedConn_R1Pro_XXXX").
- Open the FreedConn R1 Pro app. You should now be able to view live footage, browse recorded files, and download them to your phone.

7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Basic Controls
- Volume Adjustment: Rotate the Jog Wheel up or down.
- Answering/Ending Calls: Short press the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button.
- Rejecting Calls: Long press the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button.
- Voice Dial: Double-press the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button (if supported by your phone).
7.2 Music Playback and Sharing
- Play/Pause Music: Short press the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button while music is playing.
- Next Track: Rotate the Jog Wheel forward.
- Previous Track: Rotate the Jog Wheel backward.
- Music Sharing: While playing music, activate the music sharing feature (refer to the full manual for specific button combinations) to share audio with a paired intercom unit.

7.3 FM Radio
- Turn On/Off FM Radio: Press the FM button (if available) or a specific button combination (refer to the full manual).

7.4 Video Recording and Photo Capturing

8.1 Waterproofing
The R1 Pro is rated IP65 waterproof, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. While it can withstand rain and splashes, it is not designed for submersion. Ensure all ports are securely closed when not in use to maintain its waterproof integrity.

8.2 Cleaning

8.3 Battery Care
To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period. Store the device in a cool, dry place.
9. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a power source and try again.
- Cannot pair with phone/intercom: Ensure the device is in pairing mode (flashing red and blue). Make sure other Bluetooth connections are disconnected. Try resetting the device.
- No sound from speakers: Check volume levels. Ensure the ear speakers are correctly connected to the headset socket.
- Video recording issues: Ensure a Micro SD card is inserted and has sufficient free space. Check if the card is properly formatted.
- Intercom connection unstable: Ensure devices are within the 1000-meter operating range and there are no major obstructions.
- Resetting the device: If the device becomes unresponsive, use a small pin to press the Reset Key. This will restart the device without erasing data.
