2. Installing the Linear Scales

  • Attach the linear scales to the moving axes of your machine (e.g., X, Y, Z axes for milling, or X, Z axes for lathe).
  • Ensure the scales are parallel to the axis of motion and the readhead moves smoothly along the scale.
  • Use the provided scale covers, mounting brackets, and screws for secure and protected installation.
  • Connect the linear scale cables to the corresponding ports on the back of the DRO display unit. The cables are typically 3 meters long, but custom lengths may be available.

Maintenance

To ensure the long-term accuracy and performance of your HXX DRO kit, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the display unit and linear scales with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the surfaces.
  • Protection: The linear scales feature water- and oil-resistant dust-proof adhesive strips and a sealed protective cover. While designed for durability, avoid excessive exposure to liquids, dust, oil, and iron filings. Ensure the protective covers are properly installed.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Ensure connections are secure. The cables are made of 304 stainless steel conduit for corrosion and oil resistance.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the DRO within the specified temperature range of 0°C-45°C and relative humidity of <90%.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the unit in a clean, dry environment.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HXX DRO kit, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Display/Power: Check the power connection and ensure the power switch on the back of the DRO is in the 'ON' position. Verify the power outlet is functional.
  • Incorrect Readings: Ensure all linear scale cables are securely connected to the correct axis ports on the DRO. Check for any physical obstructions or damage to the linear scales or readheads. Verify that the resolution and direction settings are correctly configured in the DRO's internal functions (refer to Operating Instructions).
  • Intermittent Readings: This could be due to loose connections, excessive vibration, or electromagnetic interference. Secure all connections, ensure stable mounting, and check for nearby sources of electrical noise.
  • Buttons Unresponsive: Ensure the display is not in a locked mode. If the issue persists, try restarting the DRO unit.

For persistent issues not resolved by these steps, please contact customer support.
