The MILESEEY S2 offers 15 measurement functions, including:

  • Area Measurement: Calculates the area of a surface.
  • Volume Measurement: Calculates the volume of a space.
  • Pythagorean Measurement (One, Second, Secondary): Uses the Pythagorean theorem to calculate indirect distances.
  • Trapezoidal Measurement (1 & 2): Measures distances for trapezoidal shapes.
  • Triangular Area Measurement: Calculates the area of a triangle.
  • Circular Area Measurement: Calculates the area of a circle.
  • Cylindrical Volume: Calculates the volume of a cylinder.
  • Stakeout Function: Helps mark out specific distances.
  • Delay Measurement: Initiates measurement after a set countdown (e.g., 5 seconds).
  • Automatic Level: Measures horizontal distances automatically.
  • Auto Vertical: Measures vertical distances automatically.
  • Two-point Ranging: Measures the distance between any two points in space, even without direct line of sight or right-angled edges.

4. Maintenance

4.1. General Care

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.

4.2. Battery Care

  • If using Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, ensure they are fully charged before use and recharged regularly.
  • If using AAA non-rechargeable batteries, replace them when the battery indicator shows low power.
  • When storing the device for extended periods, remove non-rechargeable batteries to prevent leakage.

4.3. IP65 Protection

The MILESEEY S2 has an IP65 protection rating, meaning it is completely protected against dust ingress and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. While it offers good protection in harsh environments, avoid submerging the device in water or exposing it to high-pressure water.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1. Outdoor Measurement Challenges

The laser's performance can be significantly affected by outdoor environmental conditions such as:

  • Difficult to Observe: The laser dot may be hard to see in bright conditions.
  • Sunlight Interference: Strong sunlight can interfere with laser detection.
  • Complex Light: Varied lighting conditions can affect accuracy.
Reasons why rangefinders cannot measure outdoors

Figure 13: Outdoor Measurement Challenges

5.2. Accuracy Issues

Under poor measurement conditions (e.g., strong light, weak target reflection, large temperature difference), the measurement error may increase. In such cases, it is recommended to use a cutting board or a better reflective surface at the target point to improve accuracy.

7. User Tips

  • Outdoor Visibility: When measuring outdoors, especially in bright sunlight, the 4X zoom camera is very useful for accurately targeting distant points that might be difficult to see with the naked eye.
  • Accuracy in Challenging Conditions: For optimal accuracy in poor light conditions or when measuring to a non-reflective surface, place a white cutting board or a similar reflective material at the target point.
  • Battery Management: Utilize the USB direct charge option for convenience, and keep spare AAA batteries on hand for situations where recharging isn't immediately possible.
  • Data Management: Regularly export your stored data to a computer or through the app to keep records and free up device memory.
