BMS Application Monitoring Interface and Active Equalization Function
Figure 6.1: The 4.3-inch touch LCD display showing monitoring interface and active equalization status.

The 4.3-inch Touch LCD Display provides real-time information about the battery pack's status, including voltage, current, capacity (SOC), and temperature. It also shows the status of the active equalization function. The Capacity Light LEDs provide a quick visual indication of the battery's charge level.

Smart BMS Protection Features

The integrated Smart BMS provides comprehensive protection and management:

  • Short Circuit Protection: Prevents damage from accidental short circuits.
  • Voltage Protection: Safeguards against over-voltage and under-voltage conditions.
  • Current Protection: Protects against over-current during charge and discharge.
  • Capacity Protection: Manages battery capacity to prevent over-discharge.
  • Temperature Protection: Monitors and protects against extreme temperatures during operation.
  • Equalization Function: Actively balances cell voltages for optimal performance and longevity.

The BMS also supports application monitoring, allowing for detailed oversight of battery performance.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your LiFePO4 battery pack.

  • Temperature Management: Operate the battery within the specified charging temperature range of 0~50°C (32~122°F) and discharging temperature range of -20~60°C (-4~140°F). Extreme temperatures can degrade performance and shorten lifespan.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all connections for tightness and corrosion. Ensure the battery pack is clean and free from dust or debris.
  • Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50% State of Charge (SOC) and stored in a cool, dry place within the recommended temperature range.
  • Cycle Life: The battery is designed for a high cycle life (≥6000 to ≥8000 cycles), but consistent deep discharges or operating outside recommended parameters can reduce this.
  • Firmware Updates: If available, keep the BMS firmware updated to ensure the latest features and optimizations.

8. Troubleshooting

The Smart BMS is designed to prevent most common issues by implementing various protection mechanisms. If you encounter any problems, consider the following:

  • No Power/Display Off: Check the ON/OFF switch. Ensure all power cables are securely connected.
  • BMS Protection Triggered: If the battery suddenly stops functioning, the BMS may have triggered a protection (e.g., over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature). Check the LCD display for error codes or warnings. Allow the battery to cool down if an over-temperature warning is present.
  • Uneven Cell Voltages: The 2A Active Balancing feature should manage cell equalization. If significant discrepancies persist, contact support.
  • Communication Issues: Verify the correct communication protocol (CAN/RS485) and address settings using the ADS Switch & Digital Output Port. Ensure the inverter is compatible.

For complex issues or if the problem persists, please contact customer service for further assistance.

9. User Tips

  • Manual & Bluetooth Instructions: Upon receiving your battery, contact customer service to obtain the full user manual and Bluetooth pairing instructions, as a printed manual may not be included.
  • Inverter Compatibility: Always verify your inverter model with the seller or customer service before purchasing to ensure proper matching and functionality.
  • Parallel Connection Rules: When connecting multiple battery packs in parallel, ensure they are of the same type (voltage, capacity, BMS), from the same brand, and ideally purchased around the same time (within 1-3 months) for optimal performance and safety.
  • No Series Connection: These 51.2V battery packs are designed for parallel connection only. Do NOT attempt to connect them in series.
