Operating Instructions

The Digital Engine Tach Hour Meter provides two primary functions: displaying total operating hours and real-time RPM.

Total Hours (TOT HOURS)

When the engine is off, the display shows the total accumulated operating hours. This value can be reset if needed (refer to the device's specific reset procedure, typically involving holding down a button). The hour counter can track up to 10,000 hours before cycling back to zero.

Real-time RPM

When the engine is running, the display automatically switches to show the real-time RPM. This allows you to monitor your engine's speed during operation.

Button Functions (S1 and S2)

  • S1 Button: Used to select the engine stroke mode (as detailed in the installation section).
  • S2 Button: Typically used for resetting the hour meter or navigating through settings. Refer to the specific instructions for your unit for detailed button functionality.

Maintenance

The tachometer includes a programmable maintenance reminder feature to help you keep track of essential service intervals.

Maintenance Reminder Setting

You can program specific maintenance hours into the device. When the set maintenance interval is reached, a service icon (e.g., 'SERVICE' with flashing hours) will appear on the LCD display, reminding you to perform tasks such as changing oil or replacing air filters.

Troubleshooting

  • No Display: Ensure the inductive wire is correctly wrapped around the spark plug wire and secured. The unit has a built-in battery, so check if it's active.
  • Inaccurate RPM/Hours: Verify that the inductive wire is wrapped tightly enough (at least 5 turns) and that the correct engine stroke mode is selected using the S1 button.
  • Maintenance Reminder Not Working: Check if the maintenance interval has been correctly programmed.
  • Display Flickering: While the device is designed to be anti-flicker, ensure stable connection and proper installation.
