1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation of your NEJE Master 2 20W Laser Engraver and Cutter. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance. Keep this manual for future reference.

2. Safety Precautions

WARNING: Laser radiation can cause eye and skin damage. Always follow safety guidelines.

  • Always wear laser goggles during usage. Avoid direct contact of the laser with your eyes and skin.
  • Do not engrave mirror-like or highly reflective objects, as the laser can reflect and cause damage.
  • Be aware of fire hazards. Laser engraving/cutting can generate heat and ignite flammable materials. Always supervise the machine during operation.
  • Keep pets and children away from the working area during operation.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation. Smoke and fumes will be generated when materials are burned; operate in a well-ventilated area or use a smoke exhaust system.
  • Do not dismantle the laser module without official permission. Unauthorized disassembly will void the warranty and may cause damage to the module.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your NEJE Master 2 20W for first use:

  1. Connect Cables: Connect all necessary cables to their corresponding interfaces on the machine.
  2. Assemble X,Y Bar: Securely assemble the X and Y axis bars of the engraver.
  3. Connect USB and Power: Connect the USB cable from the engraver to your computer and plug in the 12V3A power adapter.
  4. Download Driver: Download and install the required driver (Driver.exe) for your operating system.
  5. Download Software: Download the NEJE software for Windows, or the NEJE Wireless APP for iOS/macOS, or the NEJE APP for Android. Alternatively, you can use Benbox or LaserGRBL (with GRBL1.1f firmware) or LightBurn (paid software).
  6. Test Product: Perform a test run to ensure all components are functioning correctly.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Software and Connectivity

The NEJE Master 2 20W supports various control methods:

  • NEJE APP: Available for Android devices.
  • NEJE Wireless APP: Available for iOS and macOS devices.
  • NEJE Software: For Windows operating systems.
  • Third-Party Software: Compatible with Benbox and LaserGRBL (with GRBL1.1f firmware), and LightBurn (a paid software supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux).

The device also supports off-line working, allowing you to operate without a continuous computer connection once the project is loaded.

5.2 Focusing the Laser

Accurate focusing is crucial for optimal engraving and cutting results.

  • Focus Range: The recommended focus range is 30-50mm from the light exit.
  • Best Focal Length: For general use, the best focal length is approximately 40mm from the light exit.
  • Adjustment: Rotate the focus cap on the laser module to adjust the focus. A smaller focus results in a better engraving effect and higher accuracy.
  • Cutting: When cutting, ensure you use the CNC model setting within the software for best results.

5.3 Engraving and Cutting Materials

The NEJE Master 2 20W is versatile and can engrave and cut a wide range of materials:

  • Engravable Materials: MDF, Balsa wood, Paper, Wood, Fabric, Plastic, Leather, Plywood, Foam Paper, Anodized Aluminum, Acrylic, Crystal, Rubber.
  • Cuttable Materials: Paper (up to 8mm), Wood (up to 8mm, 3mm recommended for optimal results), MDF, Balsa, Fabric, Plastic, Leather, Plywood, Foam Paper.
  • Not Suitable For: Iron or other metals (for cutting), mirror objects.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the lens of the laser module and the machine's rails to ensure optimal performance and prevent debris buildup.
  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the moving parts of the X and Y axes as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure smooth operation.
  • Firmware Updates: Keep your software and firmware updated to benefit from the latest features and improvements.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the engraver in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Laser not firing or weak output Incorrect focus, dirty lens, loose cable connection, laser module issue. Adjust focus, clean lens, check all cable connections, contact support if module is faulty.
Machine not connecting to software Driver not installed, incorrect software settings, USB cable issue. Install/reinstall drivers, verify software port settings, try a different USB cable/port.
Engraving/cutting results are inconsistent Unstable machine, material not flat, incorrect speed/power settings, dirty lens. Ensure machine is on a stable surface, flatten material, adjust settings, clean lens.
Machine stops unexpectedly MEMS sensor triggered (accidental touch/movement), power interruption. Reset the machine, ensure stable power supply, avoid touching during operation.
