5.2 Network Connection

The ASECAM IP Camera supports Power over Ethernet (POE) for simplified wiring, allowing a single Ethernet cable to provide both power and data. If POE is not available, a 12V power adapter (not included) is required.

5.2.1 POE Connection (Recommended)

Connect the camera to a POE Switch or POE NVR using an Ethernet cable. This method provides both power and network connectivity.

Wiring diagram for POE connection: Camera connects via Ethernet cable to a POE Switch/NVR, which then connects to a Router. A power adapter can power the POE Switch/NVR.

5.2.2 Non-POE Connection

If you do not have a POE Switch/NVR, you will need a separate 12V power adapter (not included) to power the camera. Connect the camera to your router using an Ethernet cable for network access.

6.2 Night Vision Modes

The camera offers three distinct night vision modes to suit various lighting conditions:

  • Infrared Night Vision Mode: Standard black and white night vision using infrared LEDs.
  • Full Time Color Night Vision Mode: Provides full-color video even in low light, utilizing built-in white lights.
  • Smart Night Vision Mode: Automatically switches to full-color mode when human motion is detected, otherwise uses infrared.
Comparison of night vision modes: Infrared, Full Time Color, and Smart Night Vision with person detection.

6.5 Video Compression and Image Enhancement

  • H.265 Video Compression: Utilizes advanced H.265 compression to provide clear HD resolution video at a lower bit rate, saving storage space (40%-50% reduction compared to H.264).
  • HDR (High Dynamic Range): Ensures important details are captured in varying lighting conditions by automatically adjusting brightness.
  • 3DNR (Digital Noise Reduction): Filters out noise in low-light settings and motion, providing a cleaner, sharper image and reducing video file sizes.
Comparison of H.264 and H.265 compression formats, showing H.265 uses 50% less bandwidth and storage.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, dry cloth to ensure clear image quality. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the ASECAM official website or app periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables and connections for wear, damage, or loose connections, especially for outdoor installations.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power:
    • For POE setup, ensure the POE switch/NVR is powered on and the Ethernet cable is securely connected.
    • For non-POE setup, verify the 12V power adapter is correctly connected and functioning.
  • No Video Feed:
    • Check network cable connections at both the camera and the router/NVR.
    • Ensure the camera is properly configured on your NVR or viewing software.
    • Verify network settings (IP address, subnet mask, gateway) are correct.
  • Poor Image Quality:
    • Clean the camera lens.
    • Check for obstructions in the camera's field of view.
    • Ensure sufficient lighting for optimal night vision performance.
  • Motion Detection Issues:
    • Adjust motion detection sensitivity in the camera settings.
    • Review the configured motion detection zones.
  • Compatibility with NVRs:

The camera supports ONVIF protocol, allowing connection to third-party video recorders like Hikvision and Dahua. For optimal functionality, it is recommended to use an ASECAM NVR.

9. User Tips

  • Default Login: If no manual is provided with the camera, a common default user is 'admin' with password '123456'. Always change default credentials immediately after initial setup for security.
  • Lens Selection: The 2.8mm lens offers a wide viewing angle, which is great for general area coverage. For narrower spaces like corridors, a 3.6mm lens might provide better detail.
  • 4K Quality: The 4K (8MP) resolution provides impressive image quality, a significant upgrade from lower resolution cameras.
  • Audio Performance: Users have noted the audio reception is very good and clear.
  • Compatibility: The camera is perfectly compatible with Hikvision protocol and can be used with various ONVIF-compliant NVRs.
