1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SNAKOL Laser Distance Meter. This device is a high-precision digital rangefinder designed for various measurement tasks, offering multiple measurement modes and high accuracy in millimeters. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, depending on the model's laser type. Please read this manual carefully before using the device to ensure safe and proper operation.

4. Product Overview

The SNAKOL Laser Distance Meter features a high-definition screen and intuitive button layout for easy operation. Familiarize yourself with the components and controls:

  • Reflecting Laser / Shoot a Laser: The laser emitter and receiver.
  • High Definition Screen: Displays measurement results, mode indicators, and battery status.
  • Laser Measurement Keys (MEAS): Initiates measurements.
  • Function Selection Keys (FUNC): Cycles through different measurement modes.
  • Measuring Reference Selection Key: Changes the measurement reference point (front or rear of the device).
  • Sound Keys / Plus and Minus Keys: Adjusts sound settings and performs addition/subtraction in certain modes.
  • Power Button (CLEAR): Turns the device on/off and clears current measurements.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The device requires 3 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not included). To install the batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert three AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

6. Operating Instructions

The SNAKOL Laser Distance Meter offers multiple measurement modes to suit various needs. Use the FUNC button to cycle through the modes and the MEAS button to initiate measurements.

6.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the POWER button to turn on the device.
  • Press and hold the POWER button to turn off the device.

6.2 Changing Measurement Reference

The device can measure from its front end or rear end. Press the Measuring Reference Selection Key to toggle between these options.

6.3 Measurement Modes

The device supports the following measurement functions:

  • Distance measurement
  • Area measurement
  • Volume measurement
  • Pythagorean measurement (indirect measurement)
  • Continuous measurement (Min/Max values)
  • Addition/Subtraction measurement

6.3.1 Single Measurement

To measure a single distance:

  1. Select the single measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Aim the laser at the target point.
  3. Press the MEAS button. The distance will be displayed on the screen.

6.3.2 Continuous Measurement

This mode allows for dynamic measurement, displaying the maximum and minimum distances as you move the device.

  1. Select the continuous measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Press MEAS to start continuous measurement.
  3. Move the device to measure different points. The screen will automatically calculate and display the maximum and minimum values.
  4. Press MEAS again to stop continuous measurement.

6.3.3 Area Measurement

To calculate the area of a surface:

  1. Select the area measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Measure the length by pressing MEAS.

  4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

6.3.4 Volume Measurement

To calculate the volume of a space:

  1. Select the volume measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Measure the length by pressing MEAS.
  3. Measure the width by pressing MEAS.
  4. Measure the height by pressing MEAS.
  5. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

6.3.5 Pythagorean (Indirect) Measurement

This mode allows you to measure inaccessible heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.

  1. Select the Pythagorean measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to measure the required sides (e.g., hypotenuse and one leg).
  3. The device will calculate and display the indirect measurement.

6.4 Data Storage

The device can store up to 20 groups of measurement data. You can save and view your measurements at any time.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in its protective pouch in a dry, cool place when not in use.
  • Battery: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Protection: The device has an IP54 protection rating, meaning it is dustproof and splash-proof. However, it is not fully waterproof and should not be submerged.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SNAKOL Laser Distance Meter, consider the following:

  • No Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the laser lens is clean and unobstructed. Verify the measurement reference point is correctly set (front or rear).
  • Laser Not Visible: In bright outdoor conditions, the laser might be difficult to see. Consider using models with a green laser for better visibility outdoors.
  • Device Not Responding: Try removing and reinserting the batteries to reset the device.
