2.5. Xiaomi Mesh Networking

To extend network coverage in larger homes, you can purchase multiple Xiaomi Mesh-enabled routers and set up a Mesh network. Compatible models can be found on the Xiaomi Mall official website.

Prerequisites:

  1. The BE6500 Pro must be configured as the main router with internet access, and its front indicator light should be solid white.
  2. The sub-router (another Mesh-enabled router) should be placed near the main router (more than 1 meter apart to avoid interference). Power it on and wait 2-3 minutes until the BE6500 Pro's indicator light starts breathing white.
  3. Ensure the sub-router is in an unconfigured state. If it has been configured before, press and hold its Reset button for more than 5 seconds to factory reset it, then retry.

Mesh Setup Methods:

Method 1 (Recommended - via Mi Home App):

  • Add and bind the main router in the Mi Home App.
  • Go to the router management interface, click "Mesh Network Devices", and follow the prompts to add Mesh sub-routers.

Method 2 (Wireless Mesh Networking):

  • Short press the Mesh button on the main router. The BE6500 Pro's indicator light will start blinking white, entering Mesh pairing mode.
  • The sub-router will automatically join the Mesh network wirelessly.

Method 3 (Wired Mesh Networking):

  • Connect any port on the BE6500 Pro to the WAN port (or any port if no dedicated WAN port) of the sub-router using an Ethernet cable.
  • The BE6500 Pro's indicator light will blink white, entering Mesh pairing mode.
  • The sub-router will automatically join the Mesh network via the wired connection.

Note: If the sub-router has a single indicator light, a fast white blink indicates Mesh pairing in progress, and a solid white light indicates successful pairing.
