3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Powering On

The detector is powered by two (2) LR6-AA batteries (not included). To install, slide to remove the back cover, insert the batteries, and then replace the cover.

The device uses two AA batteries for power, offering long standby time.

Upon initial power-on, all indicator lights will briefly turn on and then off. The green indicator light will flash every second, and the screen will display a 120-second countdown. After the countdown, the flashing stops, and the screen will show "0 ppm." The green indicator light will then flash once every 40 seconds, indicating normal operation.

3.2 Network Connection

The device supports 2.4G WiFi networks only; 5G networks are not supported. For optimal performance, ensure the installation location has a stable network environment.

  1. For the first-time connection, it is recommended to use new batteries.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile phone when connecting to the internet. The WiFi + Bluetooth dual mode allows for a faster and more stable connection.
  3. Download and install the Smart Life or Tuya Smart application on your smartphone.
  4. Follow the in-app instructions to add and connect your Carbon Monoxide Detector.

3.3 Mounting the Device

The detector is designed for wall mounting. It can be securely fixed using double-sided tape or the included screws. The back of the device features dedicated wall mounting holes for easy installation.

3.4 Recommended Placement

It is recommended to install carbon monoxide alarms in areas where air is not circulated for a long time, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms. Avoid placing it directly above heat sources or in areas with strong drafts.

4. Operation

4.1 Normal Operation

In normal operating conditions, the screen will display "0 ppm," and the green indicator light will flash once every 40 seconds.

4.2 Alarm Condition

If the carbon monoxide concentration in the environment exceeds the preset alarm value (128ppm ± 50ppm), the red indicator light will blink, and a continuous beeping sound will be emitted. The alarm will continue until the CO concentration drops back to "0 ppm." If connected to the network, the mobile application will also receive an alarm message.

The detector provides both local audible/visual alarms and remote notifications via the app.

4.3 Testing the Device

To test the alarm function:

  1. Press the test button on the device. The green and yellow lights will turn on, the red light will blink, and the buzzer will sound a beep, confirming the alarm is functional.
  2. For a user test of CO detection, you can light a cigarette and allow the smoke to enter the product. After a moment, the screen will display the CO concentration value. If it exceeds the set alarm value, an alarm will sound, and the red indicator light will flash simultaneously.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

The device will automatically provide a low voltage reminder when the battery level is low. Replace the two (2) LR6-AA batteries promptly to ensure continuous protection. The device is designed for low power consumption, allowing for approximately one year of standby time with two new batteries.

5.2 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the detector with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents, as these may damage the device or interfere with sensor operation.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device displays "ERR": This indicates a malfunction with the CO sensor. The orange indicator light will flash twice every 40 seconds, and the buzzer will beep twice. If this occurs, the device may need to be replaced.
  • No alarm during high CO concentration: Ensure batteries are fresh and correctly installed. Perform a manual test using the test button. If the issue persists, the sensor may be faulty.
  • Cannot connect to WiFi:
    • Verify your WiFi network is 2.4G, not 5G.
    • Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled during the connection process.
    • Confirm the installation location has a stable WiFi signal.
    • Try using new batteries for the initial connection.
  • False alarms: Ensure the detector is not placed too close to sources of combustion or in areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures outside its operating range.
