3. Product Components and Controls

4. Initial Setup

  2. Install Battery: Align the 7.4V 4000mAh Li-ion battery with the battery compartment on the back of the radio and push it firmly until it clicks into place. Secure with detachable screws if present.
  3. Attach Antenna: Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
  4. Charge Battery: Connect the USB Adaptor to a power source and the USB Cable to the Type-C port on the radio. Charge the battery fully before first use. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

5. Basic Operation

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

  • Power On: Rotate the Volume/Switch knob clockwise until you hear a click. The radio will power on.
  • Power Off: Rotate the Volume/Switch knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click. The radio will power off.
  • Volume: Rotate the Volume/Switch knob to adjust the listening volume.

5.2 Channel Selection

  • Analog Mode: Rotate the Channel knob to select one of the 16 available analog channels.
  • POC Mode: Use the navigation buttons to select groups or individual contacts on the Real-PTT platform.

5.3 Transmitting and Receiving (PTT)

  • To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT button. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.
  • To Receive: Ensure the PTT button is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive transmissions on the selected channel/group.

5.4 Dual Mode Functionality

The HD6500 supports seamless switching or simultaneous operation between POC (4G network) and UHF (analog) modes. Refer to the on-screen interface and specific menu options for managing dual-mode settings.

5.5 GPS Positioning

The integrated GPS module provides location services. Depending on the Real-PTT platform configuration, you can track the radio's location and view trajectory playback. Ensure GPS is enabled in the radio's settings for this feature to function.
