5. Setup
5.1 Powering the Unit
The WEP 937D-I can be powered in two ways:
- By Compatible Battery: Attach a compatible 18V/20V power tool battery to the base of the soldering station. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
- By DC Port: Connect a 20V DC, 2.5A power adapter to the DC Port on the side of the unit.
WARNING: Do not use both the DC port and a battery to power the unit at the same time. This can cause damage to the unit and pose a safety risk.

5.2 Initial Power-On
Once powered, turn on the Master Power Switch located on the front of the unit. The temperature display will illuminate.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Temperature Adjustment
Use the Digital Encoder Control Knob to precisely adjust the desired soldering temperature. Rotate the knob clockwise to increase temperature and counter-clockwise to decrease it. The temperature will be displayed on the screen.
6.2 °C/°F Temperature Mode Conversion
The unit allows for easy switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays. Refer to Figure 4 for the specific button or knob function to toggle between these modes.

6.3 Sleep Mode
When the soldering iron is not in use for an extended period, the unit will enter Sleep Mode to reduce power consumption, minimize tip oxidation, and reduce heating element wear. The sleep timer can be configured (typically 1-8 minutes). To reactivate, simply pick up the handpiece from the holster.
6.4 Automatic Shutdown
For enhanced safety, the unit features an Automatic Shutdown function. If left unattended for a prolonged period (timer configurable, typically 1-8 minutes), the unit will automatically shut down. To reactivate, turn the control knob.
6.5 Soldering Technique
Ensure the soldering iron tip is clean and tinned. Apply the tip to the joint to heat both the component lead and the pad. Feed solder onto the heated joint, allowing it to flow smoothly. Remove the solder, then remove the iron. Allow the joint to cool undisturbed.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Tip Cleaning
The WEP 937D-I features an integrated tip cleaner. Regularly clean the soldering iron tip by gently wiping it on the cleaner to remove excess solder and oxidation. This helps maintain optimal heat transfer and extends tip life.
7.2 General Cleaning and Storage
Ensure the unit is powered off and cooled before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. The unit includes portable solder wire storage slots for convenient organization.
8. Troubleshooting
- Unit does not power on: Check battery connection or DC adapter. Ensure the Master Power Switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Temperature not stable: Ensure the soldering iron tip is properly seated. Allow time for PID temperature stabilization.
- Poor solder joints: Ensure the tip is clean and tinned. Verify the temperature setting is appropriate for the solder and components being used.
- Unit enters Sleep Mode unexpectedly: Check the sleep mode timer configuration.
- Unit enters Automatic Shutdown unexpectedly: Check the automatic shutdown timer configuration.
