4.3. Measurement Modes

The multimeter supports various measurement types:

  • AC/DC Voltage Measurement: Connect test leads to the circuit in parallel.
  • AC/DC Current Measurement: Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit. WARNING: Do NOT directly contact with measuring current like measuring voltage. Direct contact will burn out the instrument!
  • Resistance Measurement: Connect test leads across the component. If resistance is less than 50Ω, a buzzer will sound.
  • Capacitance Measurement (M108 only): Remember to discharge capacitors before measurement.
  • Diode Measurement (M108 only): Ensure correct polarity when measuring diodes.
  • Continuity/Buzzer Measurement: A beep indicates continuity. No beep indicates an open circuit or damaged line.
  • Hz Measurement: For frequency measurement.
  • NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Induction: Long press the NCV button. Place the front end test point near an AC voltage source; an alarm buzzer will sound. The stronger the voltage, the faster the beeping sound.
  • Flashlight & Backlight: Long press the H/☀ button to activate in dark environments.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the multimeter clean and dry. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning; do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Regularly inspect test leads for any signs of damage or wear. Replace immediately if damaged.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Incorrect Readings: Verify test lead connections. Ensure the correct measurement mode is selected. For capacitance, ensure the component is discharged.
  • No Buzzer Sound (Continuity): Check if the circuit is open or the line is damaged.
  • NCV Not Detecting: Ensure the NCV button is long-pressed to activate the mode.

8. User Tips

  • Always ensure the multimeter is set to the correct function before making a measurement to avoid damage to the device or circuit.
  • For current measurements, always connect the multimeter in series with the load. Never connect it in parallel across a voltage source when measuring current.
  • When measuring resistance or continuity, ensure the circuit is de-energized to prevent inaccurate readings or damage.
  • Utilize the built-in test pen card slot for convenient storage of test leads when not in use.
  • The retractable back bracket allows for easy viewing of the display during measurements.
