4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your MEKEDE Car Rear View Camera, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Clean the Lens: Regularly wipe the camera lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, or water spots that may obstruct the view. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Check Connections: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion or damage. Loose connections can lead to intermittent signal loss.
- Waterproof Integrity: While the camera is waterproof (IP67/IP68), avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the camera for extended periods, especially during car washes.
- Environmental Factors: If installed externally, be mindful of extreme weather conditions. The camera is designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures, but prolonged exposure to harsh elements can affect its lifespan.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your camera, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:
- No Image on Display:
- Ensure the camera is receiving power. Check the red and black power cables for proper connection to the backup light.
- Verify the video cable is securely connected to both the camera and the monitor's video input.
- Confirm the monitor is set to the correct video input channel.
- Check the reversing detection cable connection to ensure the monitor switches to camera view when reverse is engaged.
- Flickering or Distorted Image:
- Check all cable connections for looseness or damage.
- Ensure the power supply to the camera is stable (12V DC).
- Inspect the video cable for kinks or damage.
- Verify that the camera's resolution (e.g., AHD1080P, AHD720P) is compatible with your monitor.
- Poor Night Vision:
- Clean the camera lens and the 4LED lamps to ensure they are free from dirt or obstructions.
- Ensure there is sufficient ambient light for the night vision to function effectively.
- Image is Upside Down or Mirrored:
- Some monitors or camera models have settings to flip or mirror the image. Consult your monitor's manual or check for small wires on the camera cable that can be cut to change image orientation (if applicable to your specific model).

- Test Before Final Installation: Before permanently mounting the camera and routing all cables, connect everything temporarily and test the system to ensure it functions correctly with your display unit.
- Proper Grounding: Ensure the camera's ground wire (black) is connected to a solid chassis ground point to prevent electrical interference and ensure stable operation.
- Cable Management: Route cables carefully to avoid pinching, chafing, or exposure to excessive heat or moving parts. Use cable ties to secure them.
