5. Installation
5.1 Pre-Installation Checks
- Door Thickness: Ensure your door thickness is between 38mm and 50mm.
- Mortise Compatibility: The lock is compatible with various mortise types including single latch 60/70, European 5050/6050/3585/4585/6085/6072/5572. If using an existing mortise, confirm the square bar hole diameter is 8mm.
- Handle Direction: The handle direction is reversible. Adjust as needed during installation.

6. Setup
6.1 Battery Installation
- Remove the battery cover on the rear panel.
- Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).

6.2 Tuya Smart Life App Connection
- Download the "Tuya Smart Life" app from your smartphone's app store or scan the QR code provided on the product packaging or in the product overview section.
- Register or log in to your Tuya account.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add your YRHAND X5 Smart Lock. This typically involves putting the lock into pairing mode (refer to the lock's voice prompts or the app for specific steps) and connecting it to your home WiFi network.

6.3 Adding Users (Fingerprint, Passcode, Card)
Once connected to the app, you can add various unlocking credentials:
- Fingerprint: In the app, navigate to user management and follow the prompts to register fingerprints. You will be guided to place your finger on the reader multiple times.
- Passcode: Generate permanent, time-limited, or one-time passcodes through the app. You can also set a virtual passcode for added security.
- M1 Card: Register M1 cards by following the app's instructions, typically by tapping the card on the lock's card reading area when prompted.

7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Unlocking the Door
The YRHAND X5 offers multiple ways to unlock:
- Fingerprint Unlock: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint reader. The lock will unlock in approximately 1 second.
- Passcode Unlock: Enter your registered passcode on the touch keypad, followed by '#'.
- Card Unlock: Present your registered M1 card to the card reading area.
- App Remote Unlock: Open the Tuya Smart Life app, select your lock, and tap the unlock button. Confirm the remote opening when prompted.
- Mechanical Key Unlock: Insert the mechanical key into the cylinder hole and turn to unlock.

7.2 Locking the Door
- Automatic Locking: The lock will automatically re-lock after a few seconds once the door is closed.
- Manual Locking (Deadbolt): Lift the handle upwards to engage the deadbolt for enhanced security.
- Deadbolt Button (Double Safety): On the interior panel, press the deadbolt button to activate double safety mode. This prevents unlocking from the outside by most methods.

7.3 Emergency Power Supply
If the batteries are completely drained, you can temporarily power the lock using a USB power bank:
- Locate the USB charging port on the bottom edge of the front panel.
- Connect a USB power bank to the port using a MicroUSB cable.
- Once powered, you can use any registered unlocking method (fingerprint, passcode, card) to open the door.

8. Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace all 4 AA batteries when the low battery warning is issued by the lock. Do not wait for the batteries to completely drain.
- Cleaning: Wipe the lock's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
- Fingerprint Sensor: Keep the fingerprint sensor clean and dry for optimal performance.

- Lock not responding: Check battery levels. If low, replace batteries or use the emergency USB power supply.
- Fingerprint not recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Try re-registering your fingerprint in the app if the issue persists.
- Forgotten Passcode: You can reset or retrieve passcodes via the Tuya Smart Life app if the lock is connected to WiFi. Otherwise, use a mechanical key or a registered fingerprint/card.

- Lock is not connecting to WiFi: Ensure the lock is in pairing mode and your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network during setup.
- Mortise compatibility: If you are using an existing mortise, ensure the square bar hole diameter is exactly 8mm for proper fit.
