Setup

1. Mounting the Device

Attach the provided stopwatch base to your bicycle's handlebar or stem. Secure the BB16S unit onto the base by aligning it and twisting until it locks into place. Ensure the device is firmly attached before riding.

2. Initial Power On and Basic Settings

Press and hold the power button (usually on the side) to turn on the device. Follow the on-screen prompts for initial setup, which may include:

  • Language selection
  • Unit system (Metric/Imperial)
  • Time zone setting

3. GPS Acquisition

For accurate speed, distance, and route tracking, the BB16S utilizes BDS and GPS satellite systems. For the first use, or after a long period of inactivity, take the device outdoors with a clear view of the sky. The device will automatically search for and acquire satellite signals. A stable GPS icon on the display indicates successful acquisition.

4. Pairing External Sensors (Optional)

The BB16S supports external speed, pedaling frequency (cadence), and heart rate sensors via Bluetooth (BLE 5.0). To pair a sensor:

  1. Ensure the sensor is active and within range of the BB16S.

Operating Instructions

1. Button Functions

The BB16S features 3 buttons on the side for navigation and control. Specific functions may vary based on the current screen or mode. Generally:

  • Total Average Speed, TOP Speed

3. Recording Rides

Once GPS is acquired and any desired sensors are paired, press the appropriate button (usually the power button or a dedicated 'Start' button) to begin recording your ride. The device will automatically log your data. Press the same button to pause or stop the recording.

4. Automatic Backlight

The BB16S features an automatic backlight function that adjusts according to local sunrise and sunset times, ensuring data is clearly visible day or night.

5. Data Synchronization and Sharing

The Blackbird BB16S allows you to synchronize and share your cycling records using the dedicated Blackbird cycling APP. The device records data in FIT file format, which is widely compatible with various cycling platforms.

Maintenance

1. Charging

Charge the device using the provided Type-C cable and a standard USB power adapter (not included). The battery capacity is 600mAh, providing up to 20 hours of usage. A full charge typically takes a few hours. Avoid using damaged cables or chargers.

2. Cleaning
