1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

  • Battery Safety: Use only Radtel approved batteries and chargers. Do not short-circuit, incinerate, or disassemble the battery pack.
  • Antenna Care: Do not touch the antenna during transmission. Avoid using the radio with a damaged antenna, as it may cause minor burns.
  • Hearing Protection: Keep the volume at a moderate level. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds may cause hearing damage.
  • Interference: Turn off the radio in areas where radio devices are prohibited or when interference may occur, such as hospitals or aircraft.
  • Water Resistance: The RT-733 is IP67 rated, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Ensure all port covers are securely closed before exposure to water.

4. Product Overview

The Radtel RT-733 features a clear display, intuitive keypad, and robust housing. Below is a general overview of the radio's front panel and key features.

Key Components:

  • Antenna Connector: For attaching the antenna.
  • Power/Volume Knob: Rotate to turn on/off and adjust volume.
  • Channel/Frequency Knob: For quick channel or frequency selection.
  • LCD Display: Shows frequency, channel, battery status, and other indicators.
  • Keypad: Numeric input and function keys (MENU, EXIT, A/B, V/M, etc.).
  • PTT Button: Push-To-Talk button for transmitting.
  • SOS Button: Dedicated button for one-click alarm function.
  • Speaker/Microphone: For audio output and input.

5. Initial Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks into place.

5.2 Charging the Battery

Before initial use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the radio's USB-C port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The charging indicator on the radio will show charging status. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable.

5.3 Antenna Attachment

  1. Screw the antenna clockwise into the antenna connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

5.4 Belt Clip Attachment

  1. Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio.
  2. Secure the belt clip with the provided screws.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn on the radio and adjust the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise until it clicks to turn off.

6.2 Channel/Frequency Selection

  • Channel Mode: Use the Channel/Frequency knob or the UP/DOWN arrow keys on the keypad to select a stored channel.
  • Frequency Mode (VFO): Press the V/M button to switch to Frequency Mode. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys or the Channel/Frequency knob to adjust the frequency. You can also directly input frequencies using the numeric keypad.

6.3 Transmitting and Receiving

  1. To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  2. Release the PTT button to receive.

6.4 Menu Navigation

Press the MENU button to enter the menu. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to navigate through options. Press MENU again to select an option, and EXIT to go back or exit the menu.

6.5 VOX Function (Voice Operated Transmit)

The VOX function allows hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice. Adjust VOX sensitivity in the menu.

6.6 Scan Function

Activate the scan function via the menu or a programmable side key to scan through active channels or frequencies.

6.7 Alarm Function (SOS)

The RT-733 features a one-click alarm function for emergencies.

Press the dedicated SOS button to activate the alarm. Refer to the menu settings for alarm type (e.g., local alarm, transmit alarm).

6.8 Scrambler (Speech Encryption)

The radio supports 10 groups of speech encryption to enhance communication privacy.

Activate and select a scrambler group through the radio's menu.

6.9 High/Low Power Selection

Adjust the transmit power (High/Low) via the menu to conserve battery life or extend range as needed.

6.10 Wide/Narrow Band

Select between wide and narrow bandwidth settings depending on the channel spacing requirements.

6.11 CTCSS/DCS (Tone Squelch)

Use CTCSS/DCS tones to filter out unwanted conversations and only hear transmissions from users with the same tone settings.

6.12 PC Programmable

The RT-733 is PC programmable, allowing for advanced customization of channels, frequencies, and features using dedicated software and a programming cable.

6.13 Dual Watch (A/B) and VFO/Memory (V/M)

Use the A/B button to switch between main and sub-frequency displays for dual watch. The V/M button toggles between VFO (Frequency) mode and Memory (Channel) mode.
