5. Setup Instructions

Follow these three easy steps to set up your Newfast NF-RE523 WiFi Repeater:

  1. Connect to Repeater's WiFi: On your phone or computer, connect to the WiFi network broadcast by the repeater. The SSID will typically be named like NEWFAST_xxx.
  2. Access Setup Page: Open a web browser and enter 192.168.10.1 in the address bar. This will take you to the repeater's configuration page.
  3. Configure Repeater Mode: On the configuration page, select 'Repeater Mode'. Choose the WiFi SSID of your main router that you wish to extend and enter its password. Once successfully configured, the corresponding icon on the OLED display will illuminate.

The NF-RE523 features a 'Setup with Memory' function. After the initial configuration, the device retains its settings and can be placed anywhere in your house without needing to reconfigure, allowing for flexible placement to optimize coverage.

6. Operating Modes

The Newfast NF-RE523 supports multiple operating modes to suit various network requirements:

6.1. Repeater Mode (Wireless to Wireless)

In this mode, the NF-RE523 extends the existing WiFi signal from your main router to areas with weak or no coverage. It wirelessly connects to your main router and re-broadcasts the signal, effectively amplifying the range.

6.2. AP/Router Mode (Wired to Wireless)

When configured as an Access Point (AP) or Router, the NF-RE523 can create a new wireless network from a wired Ethernet connection. You can plug a network cable from your modem or router into the NF-RE523's RJ45 port, and it will broadcast a new WiFi signal.

6.3. Client Mode (Wireless to Wired)

In Client Mode, the NF-RE523 connects wirelessly to an existing WiFi network and provides internet access to a wired device (e.g., desktop PC, smart TV, gaming console) via its RJ45 Ethernet port. This is useful for devices without built-in WiFi capabilities.

7. User Tips

  • The password for the repeater, when set up in Repeater Mode, will be the same as your main router's WiFi password.
  • Ensure the repeater is placed in an optimal location, ideally halfway between your main router and the desired coverage area, to maximize signal strength and minimize interference.
  • Avoid placing the repeater near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause signal interference.
  • When setting up your WiFi password, note that it supports a maximum of 32 characters and does not support special characters such as spaces.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Internet Access: Check if the repeater is properly connected to your main router. Verify the WiFi password entered during setup is correct. Try restarting both your main router and the repeater.
  • Slow Speeds or Dropped Connection: This can often be caused by poor signal strength between the repeater and the main router. Try repositioning the repeater closer to your main router or adjusting the antennas. Ensure there are no major obstructions.
  • Cannot Access Setup Page (192.168.10.1): Ensure your device is connected to the repeater's WiFi network (e.g., NEWFAST_xxx) and not your main router's network. Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
  • OLED Display Not Showing Status: Ensure the device is powered on correctly. If the issue persists, try resetting the device to factory defaults using the WPS/RST button.
  • Resetting to Factory Defaults: To reset the device, press and hold the WPS/RST button for approximately 5-8 seconds until the OLED display indicates a reset. This will erase all custom settings.

9. Maintenance

  • Keep the device in a well-ventilated area to ensure proper heat dissipation.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
  • Clean the device periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Regularly check for firmware updates on the manufacturer's website to ensure optimal performance and security.

10. Warranty and Support

For technical support, troubleshooting assistance, or warranty inquiries, please refer to the contact information provided with your purchase or visit the official Newfast/Comfast website. Keep your purchase receipt as proof of purchase for warranty claims.
