GEOID HS800, HS500

GEOID HS800 Armband and HS500 Chest Strap Heart Rate Monitor User Manual

Models: HS800 (Armband), HS500 (Chest Strap)

1. Introduction

The GEOID HS800 Armband and HS500 Chest Strap Heart Rate Monitors are advanced fitness trackers designed to provide real-time, accurate heart rate data for various sports and activities. Utilizing photoelectric dual-beam technology, the HS800 detects changes in optical volume through a photodiode, leveraging the varying light absorption and reflection properties of hemoglobin with different oxygen levels in the blood. This ensures precise data capture to optimize your workout effectiveness.

Monitoring your heart rate during exercise is crucial for maximizing workout benefits. By understanding your personal heart rate zone, you can train more efficiently, avoiding exhaustion from excessively high BPMs or insufficient effort from low BPMs. The GEOID heart rate monitors help you stay within your optimal training zones.

3.3 Initial Connection

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone or receiving device.
  2. Important: Do NOT search for or pair the heart rate monitor through your phone's system Bluetooth settings.
  3. Open your preferred cycling or fitness app (e.g., Zwift, Strava, Wahoo Fitness) and navigate to its sensor connection settings.
  4. Select the GEOID heart rate monitor from the list of available sensors within the app to connect.
  5. Check that the app displays heart rate data normally. A red light on the sensor indicates it is ready to use.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Armband (HS800) and Chest Strap (HS500): Gentle hand wash is recommended for the fabric components. Allow them to air dry completely before reattaching the sensor.
  • Sensor Unit: Wipe the sensor unit with a soft, damp cloth after each use. Do not use abrasive cleaners or submerge the sensor in water (beyond its IP67 rating for sweat/rain exposure).

5.2 Storage

Store your heart rate monitor in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use. For the HS500, if storing for an extended period, consider removing the CR2032 battery to prevent leakage.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not connecting:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone/device.
    • Confirm you are connecting through your fitness app's sensor settings, not your phone's system Bluetooth settings.
    • Check if the sensor's red light is on, indicating it's ready.
    • Restart your phone/device and the heart rate monitor.
  • Inaccurate readings (HS500 Chest Strap):
    • Ensure the electrodes are moistened before use.
    • Verify the strap is snug and positioned correctly over your chest, with the sensor centered.
    • Check the battery level.
  • Inaccurate readings (HS800 Armband):
    • Ensure the armband is snug on your arm, not too loose or too tight.
    • Avoid placing the sensor directly over tattoos or thick hair, which can interfere with optical readings.
    • Check the battery level.
  • Compatibility with specific devices (e.g., Garmin, Polar watches):
    • The GEOID heart rate monitors support standard Bluetooth and ANT+ protocols. Most modern Garmin and Polar devices that support these protocols should be compatible.
    • Refer to your specific Garmin or Polar device's manual or settings to confirm external sensor compatibility and connection procedures.
