3.3 Pairing 433MHz RF Remote Controls

This applies to both SMG-8112-SCS and SMG-822 models.

  1. **Learning Transmitter's Codes:**
    • Press and hold "LEARN1" or "LEARN2" button on the receiver for 2 seconds (for SMG-8112-SCS) or 1 second (for SMG-822). The "learn_led" light will illuminate.
    • While the "learn_led" is lit, press the desired button on your 433MHz remote control.
    • The "learn_led" will flash and then go out, indicating that the remote's code has been successfully stored.
    • Repeat these steps for other remote controls you wish to pair.
  2. **Erasing Transmitter's Codes:**
    • Press and hold "LEARN1" or "LEARN2" button on the receiver.
    • Continue holding until the "learn_led" light illuminates and then goes out. This action will erase all previously stored remote control codes for that channel.

3.4 Tuya App Setup (SMG-8112-SCS Only)

  1. Download and install the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app from your device's app store.
  2. Register or log in to your account.
  3. Ensure the SMG-8112-SCS receiver is powered on and within range of your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
  4. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new device. The app should automatically detect the receiver if Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and the receiver is in pairing mode (red light flashing rapidly).
  5. If not automatically detected, manually add the device, selecting the appropriate device type (e.g., "Switch" or "Garage Door Opener").
  6. Enter your WiFi network name and password when prompted.
  7. Once connected, you can rename the device and access its control interface.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Working Modes (SMG-8112-SCS)

The SMG-8112-SCS receiver supports three working modes:

  • **Inching Mode:** The relay activates for a set duration (2-3600 seconds) after a single trigger, then automatically deactivates. This is ideal for momentary actions like opening a garage door and having it automatically close after a set time.
  • **Toggle Mode:** Pressing the button once activates the relay, and pressing it again deactivates it. This acts like a standard on/off switch.
  • **Latched Mode:** Pressing one button activates the relay, and pressing a different button deactivates it. This is useful for controlling two separate functions where one action cancels the other.

You can set the Inching mode duration within the Tuya/Smart Life App's timing options.

4.2 App Remote Control (SMG-8112-SCS Only)

Once the SMG-8112-SCS is successfully added to the Tuya/Smart Life App:

  • Open the Tuya/Smart Life App on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Select the receiver device from your device list.
  • Use the virtual buttons within the app to control your connected garage door, gate, or lights.
  • You can also set countdown timers for automatic closing/opening.

5. Maintenance

The SCS SENTINEL receiver is designed for low maintenance. To ensure optimal performance:

  • Keep the receiver in a dry, protected environment, away from direct moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Periodically check wiring connections to ensure they are secure.
  • For remote controls, replace batteries as needed.
  • Clean the exterior of the receiver with a soft, dry cloth if it becomes dusty. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SCS SENTINEL receiver, consider the following:

  • **Receiver not responding to remote control:**
    • Ensure the remote control's battery is not depleted.
    • Verify that the remote control has been correctly programmed to the receiver (refer to Section 3.3).
    • Check the reception range (10-100m depending on model and environment). Obstacles can reduce range.
  • **SMG-8112-SCS not connecting to WiFi/App:**
    • Confirm your WiFi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz WiFi.
    • Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth is enabled during the initial pairing process.
    • Check your WiFi password for accuracy.
    • Reset the device to pairing mode (red light flashing rapidly) and try the app setup again.
    • Verify your router settings (e.g., MAC filtering).
  • **Device not powering on:**
    • Check the power supply connections and ensure the correct voltage (AC/DC 7-32V or AC 85-250V for SMG-8112-SCS; 12V-24V DC for SMG-822) is being provided.
    • Ensure all wiring is secure and correctly connected.
  • **Voice control not working (SMG-8112-SCS Only):**
    • Ensure your Tuya/Smart Life account is correctly linked to your Alexa or Google Home app.
    • Verify the device name in the voice assistant app matches the name you are using in your commands.
    • Check your internet connection.

7. User Tips

  • **Model Selection:** When purchasing, carefully check the model number (SMG-8112-SCS for WiFi functionality, SMG-822 for RF-only) to ensure it meets your specific needs.
  • **Signal Strength:** For optimal RF performance, ensure the receiver's antenna is not obstructed and is positioned for best reception.
  • **App Customization:** Take advantage of the Tuya/Smart Life App's features like setting custom timers for automatic actions (e.g., closing the garage door after a specific delay).
