1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your KING BOX K787 DVB-S2 1080P Satellite TV Receiver. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and safety.

Important Note: This receiver is primarily designed for use in Africa and Asia. It is not compatible with EU countries. Please contact the seller for clarification regarding IKS and Apollo5 services before purchase.

2. Safety Precautions

Please read the following safety precautions carefully before operating this receiver:

  • Before operating, please check the unit's operating voltage is 100~240V AC 50/60Hz.
  • Do not overload a wall outlet, extension cord, or adapter. Do not use damaged power cords or touch them with wet hands, as this may result in electric shock.
  • The receiver shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing water, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
  • Keep the slots on top of the receiver uncovered to allow sufficient airflow to the unit. Do not put the receiver on soft furnishings or carpets.
  • Do not expose the receiver to direct light or place it near a heater or in humid conditions. Do not stack other electronic equipment on top of the receiver.
  • Unplug the receiver from the wall outlet before cleaning. Clean the receiver with a soft cloth or mild solution of washing-up liquid (no solvents).
  • Disconnect the receiver from the mains when you connect it to a satellite LNB or disconnect it from an LNB. Failure could possibly cause damage to the LNB.
  • Place the receiver indoors to avoid lightning, rain, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not remove the cover to reduce the risk of electric shock. Contact qualified and licensed service personnel to repair the receiver, or contact your dealer.

4.1. Receiver Panel Layout

4.2. Remote Control Unit (RCU)

You can control this receiver with the provided remote controller with full function.

  • POWER: Turns the receiver on/off.
  • MUTE: Mutes audio.
  • NUMERIC KEY (0~9): Enter a TV/radio channel number or menu option number.
  • SUB: Display the subtitle language list.
  • TV/R: Switch between TV and RADIO.
  • RECALL: Show the previously viewed channels list.
  • TXT: Display the teletext.
  • FAV: Set channels as favorite.
  • MENU: Activate main menu.
  • EXIT: Exit current menu step by step.
  • VOL+/VOL-: Changes volume in viewing mode.
  • CH+/CH-: Changes program.
  • OK: Confirm the selected operation or display the Channel list.
  • AUDIO: Display the audio list.
  • INFO: Display the program information.
  • PAGE ▲/▼: Moves up/down a page in the list.
  • SAT: Show the scanned satellite list.
  • EPG (Electronic Program Guide): Display the program guide.
  • ◄◄ / ►►: Fast rewind / Fast forward.
  • : Play.
  • : Stop / Enter USB menu.
  • |◄◄ / ►►|: Previous / Next.
  • ||: Pause / Time shift.
  • : Record.

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your KING BOX K787 receiver:

  1. Connect Antenna: Connect your satellite antenna cable to the "TUNER" port on the receiver.
  2. Connect to TV:
    • For high-definition, connect an HDMI cable from the receiver's "DV-OUT" port to an HDMI input on your TV.
    • Alternatively, for standard definition, connect an AV cable from the receiver's "AV" port to the corresponding AV inputs on your TV.
  3. Connect IR Extender (Optional): If using the IR extender, connect it to the "IR-EX" port on the receiver and position the extender's sensor where it can receive signals from your remote control.
  4. Connect Power: Connect the provided power adapter to the "DC-12V" port on the receiver, then plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet (100~240V AC 50/60Hz).
  5. Insert USB Device (Optional): If you plan to use a hard disk or USB drive for media playback or PVR functions, insert it into one of the "USB2.0" ports before powering on the receiver.
  6. Power On: Switch on your TV and select the correct input source (HDMI or AV) that the receiver is connected to. Then, power on the KING BOX K787 receiver.
  7. Initial Installation: Upon first power-on, the receiver may guide you through an initial installation wizard. This typically involves setting up antenna, USALS, and performing a channel scan. Refer to the "Installation" section in the Menu Operation for details.

6. Operation

6.1. Menu Operation

To access the main menu, press the MENU button on your remote control. Navigate through the menu using the arrow keys and confirm selections with the OK button. Press EXIT to go back one step or exit the menu.

6.2. Channel Setup

In this menu, you can edit channels, edit favorites, sort channels, and delete satellite channels.

6.3. System Setting

  • Menu Language: Press the volume keys to set the menu language.
  • OSD Setting: Adjust the color and transparency of the On-Screen Display (OSD).
  • Parental Control: Set limits for programs or change your password.
  • Color Setting: Adjust Brightness, Contrast, and other color settings.
  • Timer Setting: Set the current time, add event timers, and set up the sleep timer.

6.4. Installation Menu

In the Installation menu, you can choose games, play media files (music, movies), and view information about the Set-Top Box (STB), such as Model ID, Hardware Version, and Software Version.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your receiver, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No message displayed on the front display:
    • Check the main power cable and ensure it is plugged into a suitable power outlet.
    • Check that the mains supply is switched on.
  • No picture:
    • Make sure that the product is powered on and in operation mode.
    • Ensure the AV/HDMI/YUV cable is firmly connected to the TV.
    • Ensure the antenna cable is properly connected to the product.
  • Poor picture/sound quality:
    • Make sure there is no mobile phone or microwave oven near the product.

  • No or poor sound:
    • Check that your AV/HDMI cable is connected correctly.
    • Ensure your TV is not on mute.
  • Remote control does not operate:
    • The top end of the remote control should point directly towards the receiving part of the product.
    • Replace with new batteries (not included).
  • Cannot connect to network:
    • Make sure your network is functioning correctly.
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable is inserted firmly to the LAN router or WiFi is connected (if using a WiFi dongle).
