5.2 Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press the Power/Backlight button once. The LCD display will light up.
- To Power Off: Long press the Power/Backlight button. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to save battery.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Switching Measurement Units
The device supports three interchangeable units: meters (m), inches (in), and feet (ft).
- To Switch Units: Long press the UNIT button. The unit displayed on the screen will cycle through m, ft, and in. Release the button when your desired unit is shown.

6.2 Setting Measurement Reference Point
The device can measure from its front edge or its rear edge. This is crucial for accurate measurements.
- To Switch Reference Point: Press the FUNC button briefly to toggle between front-based and rear-based measurement. An icon on the display will indicate the current reference point (see Figure 4).
6.3 Measurement Modes
The device offers several measurement modes to suit different needs:

Figure 5: 5 Measurement Modes
- Single Distance Measurement:
Press the UNIT button once to activate the laser. Press it again to take a single distance measurement. The result will be displayed on the screen. - Continuous Measurement:
Press the +/- button to enter continuous measurement mode. The device will continuously measure and display the current distance, as well as the maximum and minimum values. Press UNIT to exit. - Area Measurement:
Press the FUNC button until the area icon (a square with 'S') appears. Take two consecutive distance measurements (length and width). The device will automatically calculate and display the area. - Volume Measurement:
Press the FUNC button until the volume icon (a cube with 'V') appears. Take three consecutive distance measurements (length, width, and height). The device will automatically calculate and display the volume. - Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement):
Press the FUNC button until one of the Pythagorean icons appears. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse and one side for a right triangle). The device will calculate the unknown side. There are typically 2-point and 3-point Pythagorean modes.
6.4 Addition and Subtraction of Measurements
You can add or subtract measurements using the +/- button.
- After taking a measurement, press +/- to enter addition or subtraction mode.
- Take another measurement. The device will display the sum or difference.
6.5 History and Preset Values
The device can store a certain number of measurement records (up to 28 groups). Press the PRESET button to view past measurements.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the laser emission port and receiving lens are clean for accurate measurements.
- Storage: Store the device in a dry, dust-free environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, even if not in use for extended periods.
8. Troubleshooting
- Screen flickering or "Err" reading: This often occurs when the laser beam is unable to lock onto the surface it's being pointed at, or when certain materials (such as water, glass, highly reflective or absorbent surfaces) scatter or absorb the laser light. This is not a fault with the tool. If necessary, place a suitable laser target (e.g., a white paper or target plate) to assist the measurement.
- Device not turning on: Check if the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source using the USB Type-C cable and try again.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Ensure the correct measurement reference point (front or rear) is selected.
- Make sure the device is stable and not moving during measurement.
- Ensure the laser path is clear and unobstructed.
- Verify that the target surface is flat and perpendicular to the laser beam for best results.
9. User Tips
- Always double-check your measurement reference point (front or rear) before taking critical measurements to avoid errors.
- For the most accurate results, especially over longer distances or on challenging surfaces, use a stable surface or tripod for the device and a target plate for the laser beam.
- The backlight feature can be toggled for better visibility in low-light conditions.
- Utilize the continuous measurement mode for quickly finding minimum and maximum distances, which is useful for diagonal measurements or positioning objects.
