3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your VILCORN MD-Mini console:

  1. Connect the Game Stick: Plug the game stick directly into an available HDMI port on your television, monitor, or projector.
  2. Power the Game Stick: Connect the provided USB power cable to the Micro USB port on the game stick and then to a USB power source (e.g., a TV USB port, a USB wall adapter, or a power bank).
  3. Power the Controllers: Insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) into each wireless game controller. The controllers will automatically connect to the game stick.
  4. Select Input Source: Turn on your display device (TV, monitor, projector) and select the correct HDMI input source to view the console's interface.

4. Operation

4.1 Navigating the Menu

Once connected, the console will display the main game selection menu. Use the directional pad (D-pad) on your wireless controller to navigate through game categories (Adventure, Fighting, Puzzle, Sport, etc.) and select individual games.

4.2 Playing Games

Select a game from the list and press the 'Start' button to begin. The controllers feature a classic 6-button layout for an authentic retro gaming experience.

4.3 Save and Load Game Progress

The console supports instant save and load functions. During gameplay, press 'SELECT' + 'START' simultaneously to access the in-game menu. From this menu, you can:

  • Resume: Continue playing the current game.
  • Quit: Exit the current game and return to the main menu.
  • Load: Load a previously saved game state.
  • Save: Save your current game progress. The system supports up to 5 save slots per game.
  • Screen: Adjust display settings.
  • System: Access system settings.

4.4 Two-Player Gameplay

The console comes with two wireless controllers, enabling two players to enjoy games simultaneously. Each controller has a switch to designate it as Player 1 (P1) or Player 2 (P2).

  • Switching Players: Locate the switch on the side of the controller. Toggle it left or right to switch between P1 and P2 modes. This allows for flexible single-player or multiplayer gaming without needing to swap controllers.

5. Game Management

5.1 Downloading Additional Games

The VILCORN MD-Mini supports downloading additional SEGA games. Follow these steps:

  1. Download ROM: Download the desired SEGA game ROM file (ending in .md, .gen, or .bin) to your computer.
  2. Transfer to TF Card: Insert the console's TF (MicroSD) card into your computer and transfer the downloaded ROM file into the 'Rom' folder on the TF card.
  3. Insert TF Card: Reinsert the TF card into the game stick.
  4. Play: The newly added game will appear in the game list on the console. Select and play!

Note: Games downloaded manually may not have a game thumbnail in the console's menu.

8. Troubleshooting

Q: No image or signal on the TV.
A: Ensure the game stick is securely plugged into the HDMI port. Check that the USB power cable is connected and providing power. Verify that your TV is set to the correct HDMI input source.
Q: Controllers are not responding.
A: Check if the controllers have fresh AAA batteries installed correctly. Ensure the P1/P2 switch on each controller is set appropriately. Try turning the console off and on again.
Q: Games are not loading or freezing.
A: Ensure the TF card is properly inserted into the game stick. If you've added custom ROMs, verify they are in the correct format (.md, .gen, or .bin) and placed in the 'Rom' folder. Try restarting the console.
Q: Game display issues (e.g., stretched image).
A: Access the in-game menu (SELECT + START) and check the 'Screen' options to adjust display settings, such as aspect ratio or picture pull-up.
