4. Installation Guide

Follow these steps to properly install your JONSBO ZK-120 fans:

4.1. Fan Placement and Mounting

  1. Identify suitable mounting locations within your computer case (e.g., front, top, rear, bottom, CPU cooler).
  2. Determine the desired airflow direction. The ZK-120 features 7 reverse cooling blades, allowing for flexible airflow configurations. Refer to Figure 4 for visual guidance on air inlet and exhaust sides.
  3. Secure each fan to the chosen mounting points using the provided screws. The fan includes shock-absorbing pads to reduce resonance and noise (see Figure 5).

4.2. Wire-Free Splicing Connection

The ZK-120 fans are designed for easy, wire-free daisy-chaining:

  1. Align the male and female connectors on the sides of the fans.
  2. Gently push the fans together until they click into place, ensuring a secure connection. The recessed plugs ensure stability and do not interfere with aesthetics.
  3. For segmented connections or when fans are not directly adjacent, use the provided extension cable (if included) to bridge the gap.

4.3. Power and ARGB Connection

Connect the fan array to your motherboard or a compatible controller:

  1. Connect the 4-pin PWM connector from the fan array to an available 4-pin fan header on your motherboard. This provides power and allows for fan speed control.
  2. Connect the 3-pin 5V ARGB connector from the fan array to an available 3-pin 5V ARGB header on your motherboard. This enables control over the fan's lighting effects. Note: Do NOT connect to a 12V RGB header, as this will damage the LEDs.

5. Operation

5.1. Fan Speed Control

The ZK-120 fans support PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control. Once connected to a 4-pin PWM header on your motherboard, you can control the fan speed through your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings or dedicated software provided by your motherboard manufacturer (e.g., ASUS AI Suite, MSI Dragon Center, Gigabyte SIV).

5.2. ARGB Lighting Control

The 5V 3-pin ARGB lighting can be synchronized and controlled via your motherboard's ARGB software. Compatible software includes:

  • ASUS Aura Sync
  • MSI Mystic Light Sync
  • Gigabyte RGB Fusion
  • ASRock Polychrome Sync

Use the respective software to customize lighting effects, colors, and patterns for the infinite mirror and fan blades.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your JONSBO ZK-120 fans, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the fan blades and frame to remove dust buildup. Use compressed air or a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the system is powered off before cleaning.
  • Bearing: The fans utilize Fluid Dynamic Bearings (FDB), which are designed for long life and quiet operation, requiring no lubrication or special maintenance.
  • Inspection: Regularly check for any loose connections or obstructions that might hinder fan operation.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your JONSBO ZK-120 fans, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Fan Not Spinning:
    • Check if the 4-pin PWM connector is securely plugged into the motherboard header.
    • Ensure the fan header is enabled in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings.
    • Verify that the power supply is functioning correctly.
  • No ARGB Lighting:
    • Confirm the 3-pin 5V ARGB connector is correctly plugged into a compatible 5V ARGB header on your motherboard. Do NOT connect to a 12V RGB header.
    • Check your motherboard's ARGB software to ensure lighting effects are enabled and configured.
    • Ensure all wire-free splicing connections between fans are secure.
  • Abnormal Noise:
    • Check for any cables or obstructions hitting the fan blades.
    • Ensure the fan is securely mounted and the shock-absorbing pads are properly seated.
    • Dust buildup can cause imbalance; clean the fan blades.
  • Incorrect Fan Speed:
    • Verify PWM settings in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI or software.
    • Ensure the 4-pin PWM connector is fully seated.

8. User Tips

  • Compatibility Check: Always verify that your motherboard has available 4-pin PWM fan headers and 3-pin 5V ARGB headers before purchasing.
  • Airflow Configuration: Plan your fan placement carefully to create an optimal airflow path within your PC case, ensuring cool air intake and hot air exhaust.
  • Cable Management: Utilize the wire-free splicing feature to minimize cable clutter, improving aesthetics and airflow. For longer runs, use the provided extension cable.
