4. Setup and Assembly
The Dusk 67 is a keyboard kit and requires assembly. This typically involves installing switches, stabilizers, and keycaps (not included) onto the PCB and plate, then mounting them into the wooden case.
4.1 Assembly Steps (General Guide)
- Prepare Components: Ensure you have all kit components, switches, stabilizers, and keycaps.
- Install Stabilizers: Mount your chosen stabilizers onto the PCB. Ensure they are securely clipped or screwed in.
- Mount Switches: Carefully align and press your mechanical switches into the plate and then into the PCB. Ensure all pins are straight and fully seated.
- Assemble Plate and PCB: The plate and PCB, with switches installed, will form a single unit.
- Install Silicone Pad: Place the silicone pad into the bottom of the wooden case.
- Insert Assembly into Case: Carefully place the assembled plate/PCB/switch unit into the wooden case, ensuring it sits correctly on the gasket mounts.
- Secure the Case: Fasten the case components together (screws are typically used, but specific method may vary).
- Attach Rubber Feet: Apply the rubber feet to the bottom of the case to prevent slipping.
- Install Keycaps: Place your desired keycaps onto the switches.
4.2 Firmware Installation
The Dusk 67 PCB supports VIA/VIAL firmware for key remapping and customization. You will need to flash the appropriate firmware to your PCB.
- VIAL Firmware: Download the
ydkb_kbdfans_dusk67_vial.uf2file. This firmware allows for real-time key remapping using the VIAL software without needing to re-flash. - VIA JSON: Download the
ydkb_kbdfans_dusk67_via.jsonfile. This JSON definition file is used with the VIA software to configure your keyboard.
Refer to the respective software documentation (VIAL or VIA) for detailed instructions on flashing firmware and configuring your keyboard.

5. Operating Instructions
Once assembled and connected via USB, your Dusk 67 keyboard will function as a standard 65% mechanical keyboard. Key functions can be customized using the VIA or VIAL software as described in the Setup section.
5.1 Layouts
The PCB supports both ANSI and ISO layouts. Ensure your switches and keycaps match the PCB layout you have chosen.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Case: Wipe the wooden case with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture, which can damage the wood finish.
- Keycaps: Keycaps can be removed for cleaning. Use a mild soap solution and a soft brush, then rinse and dry thoroughly before reattaching.
- Switches: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between switches.
6.2 Wooden Case Care
The wooden case is made from organic wood. It is normal for slight variations in color, grain, or minor imperfections to exist. Over time, changes in local temperature and humidity may cause the wooden shell to deform slightly. If you notice a slight wobble, you can replace the included foot pads with different heights to stabilize the keyboard. This is considered normal behavior for natural wood products and is not covered under warranty for deformation.

7. Troubleshooting
- Keyboard not recognized: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and your computer. Try a different USB port or cable. Verify that the correct firmware is flashed to the PCB.
- Keys not responding: Check that all switches are fully seated in the PCB. If using hot-swappable sockets, ensure switch pins are not bent. Re-flash the firmware if necessary.
- Wobbling case: As mentioned in the Maintenance section, the wooden case may experience slight deformation due to environmental factors. Use the provided foot pads of different heights to adjust and stabilize the keyboard.
- Stabilizer issues: Ensure stabilizers are correctly installed and lubricated. The PCB is designed to accommodate standard stabilizers. If you are using screw-in stabilizers, ensure they are compatible with the PCB's mounting points.
8. User Tips
- Environmental Care: To minimize potential warping of the wooden case, try to keep your keyboard in an environment with stable temperature and humidity. Avoid direct sunlight or extreme temperature changes.
- Stabilizer Compatibility: The PCB is generally compatible with screw-in stabilizers. Ensure you use high-quality stabilizers and install them correctly for the best typing experience.
