4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the cover.
- Insert two 1.5V "AAA" R03P batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and tighten the screw.
4.2 Initial Power-On
Press the "⑂" (POWER) key to turn on the meter. The LCD display will illuminate. To turn off the meter, press and hold the "⑂" key for more than 2 seconds.
5. Operating Instructions
The HP-7200D features auto-select and auto-ranging functions for most measurements, simplifying operation. For specific functions, use the designated keys.
5.1 General Measurement (Auto Mode)
Upon power-on, the meter typically defaults to an auto-sensing mode for common measurements like voltage and resistance. Connect the test leads to the COM and VΩ∼)))Hz°C°F jacks as appropriate for the measurement type.
5.2 DC & AC Voltage Measurement
Connect the red test lead to the VΩ∼)))Hz°C°F jack and the black test lead to the COM jack. The meter can automatically detect and measure DC and AC voltages within its specified ranges (60mV to 600V).

5.3 AC/DC Current Measurement (Clamp Function)
To measure AC or DC current, use the clamp jaws. Press the "A∼" key to cycle through DC 60A, DC 600A, and Auto current measurement modes. Ensure the conductor is placed in the center of the clamp jaws for optimal accuracy.

5.4 Resistance, Capacitance, Diode, Continuity, Temperature, and Live Wire Detection
Press the "SEL" key to cycle through these functions. Connect test leads as required for each measurement:
- Diode & Continuity: For testing diodes and circuit continuity. The buzzer LED will light up for continuity.
- Capacitance: For measuring capacitance (range 6nF-60mF).
- Temperature: Use the included temperature probe for measurements in °C or °F.
- Live Wire Detection: Identifies live electrical wires.
5.5 NCV (Non-Contact AC Voltage) Detection
The NCV detection area is located at the bottom of the meter. Bring this area close to an AC voltage source to detect its presence without direct contact. The buzzer LED will indicate detection.
5.6 Data Hold (HOLD Key)
Press the "HOLD" key briefly to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release the hold function.
5.7 Relative Measurement (REL Key)
Press the "REL" key to enter relative measurement mode. This function subtracts the current reading from subsequent measurements, useful for comparing values or zeroing out lead resistance.
5.8 Flashlight Function
Press and hold the "HOLD" key for over 2 seconds to activate the built-in flashlight, illuminating the measurement area.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the display clean for optimal readability.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in Section 4.1. Remove batteries if the meter is not used for extended periods to prevent leakage.
6.3 Storage
Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided carrying case for protection.
7. Troubleshooting
- Meter does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- "OL" displayed: Indicates an over-range condition. The measured value exceeds the meter's maximum range for the selected function.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected and making good contact. Verify the correct measurement function is selected. For current, ensure the conductor is centered in the clamp jaws.
- No NCV detection: Ensure the NCV detection area is close enough to the AC voltage source.
8. User Tips
- Always ensure the meter is set to the correct function before making a measurement to avoid damage to the meter or the circuit.
- When measuring current with the clamp, isolate a single conductor. Measuring multiple conductors will result in an inaccurate reading.
- Utilize the HOLD function for convenience when taking readings in hard-to-see areas.
- The auto-select feature is very convenient, but always double-check the displayed unit to confirm the measurement type.
