1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your EARU Single Phase LCD Digital Energy Meter. These meters are designed for accurate measurement of active energy consumption in single-phase AC circuits. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure safe and correct operation.
2. Safety Information
- Installation should only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Ensure power is disconnected before any installation or wiring work.
- Do not operate the meter if it is damaged or shows signs of malfunction.
- Observe all local electrical codes and regulations.
3. Product Overview
The EARU Single Phase LCD Digital Energy Meter series offers various models (DDS662, DDS662-L, DDS663, DDS667, DDS668) designed for measuring electrical parameters. All models feature an LCD display and are suitable for 35mm DIN rail installation.
Model Variations and Features:
- DDS663, DDS662, DDS662-L: These models do not have a reset button. The temporary kWh reading cannot be reset to zero, and the total kWh reading is also non-resettable.
- DDS667, DDS668: These models include a button for operation. The temporary kWh reading can be reset to zero by holding the button for 6 seconds. The total kWh reading remains non-resettable.
- DDS668: This specific model is designed to always display two values simultaneously, with one of the displayed values always being power.

5. Installation
5.1 DIN Rail Installation
The energy meter is designed for standard 35mm DIN rail installation. It can be directly installed into a household lighting distribution box.

5.2 Wiring Methods
The meter supports two wiring configurations:
- Top Input and Bottom Output: Connect the incoming power lines (N and L) to the top terminals and the outgoing load lines to the bottom terminals.
- Top Output and Bottom Input: Connect the incoming power lines (N and L) to the bottom terminals and the outgoing load lines to the top terminals.

6. Operation
The meter provides various readings on its LCD display. Models DDS667 and DDS668 feature a button for cycling through display modes and resetting temporary values.
6.1 Display Functions
The meter can display the following parameters:
- Total Energy (kWh): Cumulative energy consumption, non-resettable.
- Temporary Energy (kWh): Resettable energy consumption (only for DDS667, DDS668).
- Real Voltage (V): Instantaneous voltage.
- Real Current (A): Instantaneous current.
- Real Power (W): Instantaneous active power.
- Frequency (Hz): Power line frequency.
- Power Factor (PF): Power factor.
6.2 Button Operation (DDS667, DDS668)
- Short Press: Press the button briefly to cycle through the different display parameters (Voltage, Current, Power, Frequency, Power Factor, Total kWh, Temporary kWh).
- Long Press (6 seconds): For models DDS667 and DDS668, hold the button for 6 seconds to reset the temporary kWh reading to zero. The total kWh reading cannot be reset.

7. Maintenance
7.1 General Care
- Keep the meter clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the meter to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the meter yourself, as this may void the warranty and pose safety risks.
7.2 Data Retention
The meter is designed to retain total energy consumption data even in the event of a power failure. This prevents data measurement errors and loss of accumulated readings due to unexpected power outages.

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your energy meter, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Display: Check the power supply connections to ensure they are secure and that the meter is receiving power.
- Incorrect Readings: Verify that the wiring is correct according to the diagrams in Section 5.2. Ensure the meter's rated voltage and current match your electrical system.
- Backlight Behavior (DDS667/DDS668): The backlight typically illuminates when a button is pressed and may dim or turn off after a short period to conserve energy. This is normal operation.
If the problem persists, contact customer support for assistance.
9. User Tips
- Power Outage Data: Rest assured that your total energy consumption data is saved even if there's a power loss. Only temporary kWh (on applicable models) can be reset.
- Temporary kWh Reset: For models DDS667 and DDS668, remember to hold the button for 6 seconds to reset the temporary kWh reading. A quick press will only cycle through display modes.
- Backlight: The backlight on models with a button (DDS667, DDS668) is not continuously on. It activates when the button is pressed, which is normal behavior and helps save power.
