2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to reduce the risk of injury or damage to the tool.

  • Battery Safety: Always remove the battery pack before changing or removing accessories, performing maintenance, storing the tool, or any time the tool is not in use.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: To reduce the risk of injury, always wear safety goggles or glasses with side shields.
  • Tool Control: Allow the motor to come to a complete stop before adjusting the control switch (forward, reverse, lock).
  • Work Area: Ensure your work area is well-lit and clear of obstructions.
  • Stability: Maintain a firm grip on the tool with both hands and ensure stable footing during operation.
  • Avoid Over-tightening: The longer a bolt, screw, or nut is impacted, the tighter it will become. Avoid excessive impacting to prevent damaging fasteners or workpieces. Be particularly careful with smaller fasteners.
  • Foreign Objects: Oil, dirt, rust, or other matter on threads can affect tightness. Clean fasteners before use.
  • Children and Bystanders: Keep children and bystanders away from the work area.

4. Setup

Battery Compatibility:

This electric impact wrench is adapted to 18V Makita B series lithium batteries. Compatible models include BL1830, BL1850, BL1840, BL1840B, BL1850B, BL1850B(197285-8), BL1840B(197270-1), BL1830B(197602-2), BL1430B(197618-7), BL1820B(197487-6), BL1440(196391-6), BL1415(194560-3), BL1815N(196781-3).

Important: Not compatible with G Series batteries (e.g., BL1813G, BL1413G, BL1415G, BL1430G, BL1815G) or 18V Ni-CD batteries (e.g., 1822(194465-7)).

Recommended Battery Capacity: 2.0AH - 5.0AH.

Charging the Battery:

  1. Plug the charger into an AC outlet.
  2. Insert the battery pack firmly into the charger.
  3. During charging, the charging lamp will light up. An internal electronic switch automatically prevents overcharging once complete.
  4. If the battery pack is warm (e.g., after heavy-duty operation), charging will not occur immediately. The orange standby lamp will light up until the battery cools down, then charging will begin automatically.
  5. When charging is completed, the charging lamp will start flashing quickly.
  6. If the battery pack has not been used for a long time, the charging lamp will flash slowly to indicate protective charging. Protective charging takes longer to fully charge the battery pack.

Attaching and Dismounting Bits:

  1. To Mount the Bit: Insert an SDS PLUS type shank bit into the mounting hole and turn it slightly to locate an engaged position. Push the bit as far as it goes. Make sure that the bit is fixed by pulling it.
  2. To Dismount the Bit: Depress the chuck cover and pull the bit out.

5. Operation

Using the Control Switch:

The control switch allows for forward, reverse, and lock positions. It can only be adjusted when the ON/OFF switch (trigger) is not pressed. Always allow the motor to come to a complete stop before changing the control switch position.

  • Forward (Clockwise) Rotation: Push the control switch in the direction indicated for forward rotation.
  • Reverse (Counterclockwise) Rotation: Push the control switch in the opposite direction for reverse rotation. Note that product reversal only includes 1-Speed + Reverse Self-Stop Switch.
  • Lock: To lock the trigger, push the control switch to the center position. The trigger will not work when locked.

Starting, Stopping, and Controlling Speed:

  • To Start: Pull the trigger. An LED light will turn on when the trigger is pulled.
  • To Control Speed: Vary the driving speed by increasing or decreasing pressure on the trigger. The further the trigger is pulled, the greater the speed.
  • To Stop: Release the trigger. The electric brake will stop the tool instantly.

Impacting Techniques:

The impact wrench applies rotational force to tighten or loosen fasteners. Proper technique is crucial to avoid damage.

  • Avoid Excessive Impacting: The longer a fastener is impacted, the tighter it becomes. This can lead to damage to the fastener or workpiece.
  • Practice: Practice with various fasteners to understand the time required to reach the desired torque.
  • Check Tightness: Always check the tightness with a hand-torque wrench. If fasteners are too tight, reduce impacting time; if not tight enough, increase it.
  • Fastener Condition: Oil, dirt, rust, or other matter on threads can significantly affect the final tightness. Clean fasteners before use.
  • Loosening Torque: The torque required to loosen a fastener averages 75% to 80% of the tightening torque, depending on the condition of the contacting surfaces.
  • Light Gasket Jobs: For light gasket jobs, run each fastener down to a relatively light torque with the impact wrench and use a hand torque wrench for final tightening.

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Gisam Impact Wrench.

  • General Cleaning: Keep the tool clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Removal: Always remove the battery pack before any cleaning or maintenance procedures.
  • Chuck Lubrication: Grease the oval indentation on the bit with the supplied grease at least once a month to ensure smooth operation and prevent wear.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the tool for any signs of damage, loose parts, or excessive wear. If any issues are found, discontinue use and contact customer support.
