1. Introduction

5. Setup Guide

5.1. Battery Installation

Ensure the device is powered off.
Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
Insert the 3.7V 4000mAh Li-ion battery pack (BT-B5pro) into the compartment, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
Secure the battery cover.

5.2. SIM Card Installation

The device supports a single Micro-SIM card.

Locate the SIM slot on the side of the radio, usually protected by a rubber flap.
Open the rubber flap.
Carefully insert the Micro-SIM card into the slot with the gold contacts facing down, as shown in the product overview diagram.
Close the rubber flap securely to protect against dust and moisture.

5.3. Antenna Installation

Locate the SMA-Female connector on the top of the radio.
Screw the provided 4G 800-2655MHz SMA-Female Antenna onto the connector clockwise until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

5.4. Initial Power On

Press and hold the Power Button (located near the volume knob) until the HIROYASU logo appears on the screen.
The device will boot up, displaying the 4G LTE logo and then the main interface.

5.5. Charging

The device features a Type-C USB charging interface.

Connect the USB-C charging cable to the Type-C port on the bottom of the radio or the side port (as shown in Figure 5.1).
Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to the provided AC adapter.
Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet.
The charging indicator on the screen will show the charging status.

6. Operation

6.1. Basic Navigation (Touch Screen)

The HI-B5Pro features a 2.4-inch touch screen for intuitive navigation. Tap icons to open applications, swipe to scroll, and use the physical Home and Back buttons for quick navigation.

6.2. Network Connection (Mobile Data, Wi-Fi)

To use PoC features, the device requires an internet connection via mobile data or Wi-Fi.

Mobile Data: Ensure a valid SIM card is inserted and mobile data is enabled in the 'Mobile network' settings. The device supports 2G/3G/4G LTE networks (LTE-FDD: B1/B2/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28; LTE-TDD: B38/B39/B40/B41; WCDMA: B1/B5/B8).
Wi-Fi: Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Wi-Fi' to connect to available Wi-Fi networks.

6.3. Bluetooth Pairing

The device supports Bluetooth V4.2 for connecting accessories like headsets.

Go to 'Settings' > 'Bluetooth'.
Turn Bluetooth 'On'.
Select 'Pair new device' and choose your desired Bluetooth accessory from the list.

6.4. PTT Key Assignment

The Push-to-Talk (PTT) button can be assigned to specific functions within PoC applications.

Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Radio Settings'.
Here you can 'Set PTT Key value' and 'Set side key broadcast' according to your preference or application requirements.

6.5. Phone Calls and Text Messaging

The HI-B5Pro supports standard phone calls and text messages via its 4G LTE connectivity.

Phone Calls: Use the 'Phone' application on the home screen to dial numbers or access contacts. Note that voice comes from the device's speaker as there is no handset.
Text Messages: Use the 'SMS' application to send and receive text messages.

6.6. Using PoC Applications

The device comes pre-installed or supports installation of various PoC applications.

Access applications like Zello, REAL-PTT, Global-PTT, and Pocstars from the home screen.
Follow the in-app instructions to log in or sign up for an account.
Use the PTT button for instant communication within these applications.

6.7. GPS Location

The device supports GPS/Beidou navigation and location sharing.

Go to 'Settings' > 'Location'.
Ensure 'Location' is turned 'On'.
You can set the 'Mode' to 'High accuracy' for better positioning using GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile networks.

6.8. Language Settings

The device supports multiple languages.

Go to 'Settings' > 'Languages & input' > 'Languages'.
You can add or delete languages as needed.

6.9. Sound and Display Settings

Adjust sound and display preferences for a personalized experience.

Sound: Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Sound' to adjust media volume, phone ringtone, and other sound settings. The built-in 8ohm, 2W speaker ensures clear audio even in noisy environments.
Display: Go to 'Settings' > 'Display' to adjust brightness level, night light, and sleep settings.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth.
Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
Ensure all ports (USB-C, headphone jack, SIM slot) are free from dust and debris.

7.2. Battery Care

Charge the battery regularly, even if the device is not in use, to maintain battery health.
Avoid exposing the battery to extreme temperatures.
If the device will not be used for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50% before storing.

7.3. Storage

Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

Problem	Possible Solution
Device does not power on	Ensure the battery is correctly installed and charged. Try charging the device for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again.
No network signal (4G/3G/2G)	Check if the SIM card is properly inserted. Verify mobile data is enabled in settings. Ensure you are within network coverage. Check network frequency compatibility with your local carrier.
Cannot connect to Wi-Fi	Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled in settings. Check if the Wi-Fi password is correct. Restart the device and the Wi-Fi router.
PoC application not working	Ensure the device has an active internet connection (mobile data or Wi-Fi). Check if you are logged into the PoC application. Verify application settings and permissions.
Screen unresponsive or frozen	Perform a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power Button until the device restarts. If the issue persists, a factory reset might be necessary (see User Tips).
Audio issues (low volume, no sound)	Check the volume settings in 'Settings' > 'Sound'. Ensure the speaker is not obstructed.
GPS not acquiring location	Ensure 'Location' is enabled in settings and set to 'High accuracy'. Make sure you are in an open area with a clear view of the sky.

9. User Tips

Firmware Updates: Regularly check with the seller or manufacturer's website for the latest firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and resolve potential software bugs.
Network Compatibility: Before using the device with a specific mobile carrier, verify that the device's supported network frequencies (LTE-FDD: B1/B2/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28; LTE-TDD: B38/B39/B40/B41; WCDMA: B1/B5/B8) are compatible with your local provider.
PoC Application Setup: When setting up PoC applications like Zello or Global-PTT, ensure you have an active account and are logged in. Some applications may require specific group assignments or configurations.
