Setup

1. Attaching the Antenna

Screw the antenna into the connector on the top of the radio clockwise until it is firmly seated. Do not overtighten.

2. Installing the Battery

  1. Align the battery with the grooves on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, push the battery release latch (if present) and slide the battery downwards.

3. Attaching the Belt Clip

Use the provided screws to attach the belt clip to the back of the radio, if desired.

4. Charging the Battery

Before initial use, fully charge the battery. Connect the Type-C charging cable to the radio's Type-C interface and plug the other end into a compatible USB power adapter. The charging indicator on the radio (if available) will show the charging status. A full charge typically takes several hours.

5. Initial Power On/Off

To power on the radio, rotate the Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click and the display illuminates. To power off, rotate the Volume knob counter-clockwise until it clicks off.

6. Programming (Optional)

For advanced features, custom frequencies, or digital contacts, the radio may require programming via a computer and a specific programming cable (not included). Refer to the programming software manual for detailed instructions.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Communication

  1. Ensure the radio is powered on and the volume is adjusted to a comfortable level.
  2. Select the desired channel or frequency using the keypad or menu navigation.
  3. To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  4. Release the PTT button to receive.

2. Dual Mode Operation (Analog/Digital)

The DM-1702 supports both analog and digital modes. The display will indicate the current operating mode (e.g., 'D' for Digital). You can switch between modes or operate on channels configured for either mode.

3. Dual Time Slot (Tier 1+2)

The radio utilizes Tier 1+2 dual time slot technology, allowing for two simultaneous conversations on a single frequency in digital mode, enhancing channel efficiency.

4. Frequency Bands (VHF/UHF)

5. Channel Selection

The DM-1702 supports up to 1024 storage channels. Channels can be selected via the keypad or through the menu system. Programmed channels will store frequency, mode, and other settings.

6. LED Flashlight

To activate the LED flashlight, typically press and hold a designated side key or access it through the menu. Refer to your specific programming for side key assignments.

7. GPS Functionality
